my herbs are about 2 months old and are getting rather large...they're tied down and are still becoming enormous, any tips to cause outward not upward growth...i've been utilizing both topping, pruning and tying down.

Stop with the trimming and cutting! Just tie them down.If they are getting enuff light then they will,start to produce more on the side branches! Tie them down! Lot's less stress,as well as a better yeild!
