Well I was over my cousins house and I knew I saw something flying around the damn room and it looked like a mosquitoe. I didnt pay it any attention because I was watching Nothing to Lose so it was pretty funny and I was zoned out from anything because I was eating some good chocolate chip cookies after I got done smokin and had a good time. Well next morning I wake up and play Fight Night Round 3 as soon as I wake up and notice that my neck is itching. It feels good when I itch it and I finally realize that it shouldnt be itching like it was. I went in the bathroom and looked in the mirror and it was a damn bump on my neck. Not that big but it was a bit swollen. God damn mosquitoe bit me. I was feeling fine but when I got ready to go to bed later that night I was feeling funny and woozy and shit, felt like I was sick or something. I know they say that effects happen within 7 hours or something but I want to know does mosquitoes still have that shit?

LOL, I'm serious...I hate mosquitoes, they deserve to die. I wish we could get an injection thats harmless to our blood stream but kills those damn things when they start to suck.

Mosquitos are a way of life, ya know? They're everywhere except the Arctic. A lot of times when you think you may have contracted something from an insect, or from eating something you shouldn't have, or maybe even by sitting on a public toilet seat, is usually all just in your mind.

Calm down, mi mano. You're gonna be okay, it was just a mosquito and I doubt you're going to be seriously hurt by it. They do suck ass, and did you know that they are attracted to dark colors? So, try to wear lighter color clothing, if you can.

Good luck!

lol well the chances that mosquito had west nile is pretty low. To answer your question though the virus is still being carried.

Parasites..well..suck

West Nile virus (WNV) belongs to the family Flaviviridae and is a member of the Japanese encephalitis virus complex of arthropode-borne flaviviruses. The virus can infect humans, birds, mosquitoes, horses and some other mammals. Over 110 species of birds can be infected with WNV. WNV is one of the most widely distributed flaviviruses with a geographic range including Africa, Australia, Europe, the Middle East and West Asia. During 1999, WNV also established itself in the USA.
In humans, the WN virus usually produces either asymptomatic infection or mild febrile illness. Symptoms of infection include fever, headache, and body aches, occasionally with skin rash and swollen lymph glands. More severe infection may be marked by headache, high fever, neck stiffness, stupor, disorientation, coma, tremors, convulsions, muscle weakness, paralysis and rarely death

this map is the recorded activity of the virus in the US for 2006.

We had a nasty outbreak of West Nile a few years back, but now it seems there's a vaccine for anything now-a-days. Well, except for cancer. You have to be really, really unlucky to get West Nile, just like you have to be really, really unlucky to get struck by lightning. You have better odds of dying in a plane crash.

Soooo, flying soon?? :D

I'm sure you're fine, Orangeman. Even though West Nile is remotely possible, it's still rather early in the season to start seeing it, and you're so young that it's unlikely it would strike you even if it were widespread where you live in Michigan. Which it's not.

Here in Texas, there've only been a couple of reports of finding it in the mosquito population so far, but later, like in late July or August, cases of West Nile encephalitis will start showing up in humans. It's nearly always elderly or sick people with compromised immune systems who get symptoms of West Nile illness.

Yeah, and now that I think about it, the 2 most at risk age groups are young children and the elderly.

So there ya go, hypochondriac! :D

No, no, hon. No bird flu here yet. Mark that off your list, too, as another thing you don't have to worry about yet.
