I have a bet with a doctor friend of mine who says that you could be in a stadium full of people smoking joints and you would not get high because the THC was already consumed by the people smoking the joints.
Any feed back.....I need the money....but above all I need the truth (LOL)

Sure you can get high off of 2nd hand toke-just have someone give of a shotgun! Seriously though I have no personal experiance getting buzzed on other peoples smoke. Hell I would just be envious that I wasn't getting any myself

Possibly If a joint is burning and your standing over it and breathing it in then I dont see why you wouldnt?

for example if you blow the smoke to your cats face, they will get really stoned.

and im sure that cats dont have any placebo effects. :)


and we have smoked like this as well.. like blown the smoke to anothers mouths. and smoked in a really small tent with 10 people. and it started to work before getting the bong.

i was in school one day, and i didnt know back then but she was blazed and of cousre i didnt know. but she kept laughing so hard at nothing and i just laughed along with her, it was like i was high too w/o knowing it. how did i know she was high? she fell asleep after and her eyes were red and she admited to 'blazing' and of course i didnt know what that was either.
that wasnt the only time that happened either. this kind of thing happened like 3 times. only i didnt know about the weed and getting high business back then so i couldnt have been faking it.
so my question is, is there such thing as a contact high?

I No longer smoke but have been stoned plenty by being around those that are.
You would have to refrain from having your turn to find that out.
Everybody takes a big hit but the lungs can only absorb so much at once, then the rest is exhaled.

what you experienced was probably a psychosomatic effect. there are latent psychoactive chemicals within you naturally that will produce inebriation. in, fact, a lot of what gets you high when you smoke pot is just oxygen that is always available to you, the thc just lets it enter your bloodstream more. this is why eyes get red when high; the influx of oxygen in your bloodstream makes them redder. (you know that blood in your blue veins is blue until it comes in contact with oxygen, then it becomes red blood).

no this fucker is not correct. you will feel the proof when you breath your first hit of a bowl into a balloon. instead of burning another hit, just re-inhale the contents of the balloon. do it again. you will find that you're surprisingly stoned after just one burnt hit. this is assuming you're smoking indica bud, which is thicker. sativa plants produce thinner, smoother hits when smoked. if you don't know what that means, don't worry-I haven't heard of anyone smoking sativa recently. anyone reading this will be convinced of the veracity simply by trying it. if no balloon handy, breath it into a plastic bag and re-inhale. I do it whenever it is economically necessary, which is often for me :-) that smoke is too fukin thick to distribute all of its thc in one hit. has that doctor ever blazed???!!!

Whats left over in the second hand smoke is what matters though. Yes people die from secound hand cig. smoke all the time but thats because the shit that's in it now how much THC i left in a hit after exhaling it is a different story all together. :smokin:

There is only so much THC that your body can absorb when you inhale a hit, a large portion gets exhaled in your smoke so why couldnt somoene else breathe that in and get buzzed?

unfortunately you are wrong, thc is absorbed by the lungs almost instantly upon inhalation, everything exhaled is mostly tar

Second had cig smoke does not kill. That is as false as any marijuana propaganda you've heard. The internet has plenty of info on how these stats are skewed. Don't get me wrong....I know smoking is bad...and annoying for those that don't.

As far as the topic at hand. Well, here's how I see it. The answer is both a yes and a no. I know for a FACT that directly inhaling someones exhale "can" get you high. It's all in how much the person has absorbed. Sure, someone mentioned that THC is absorbed right away...BUT, it is possible to have a high enough volume in your lungs that a portion of smoke is not absorbed. Haven't you ever taken a big hit and when you blow out the smoke is still thick? That's the type of hit you can blow into another person and they will feel it. Sometimes if I take too big a hit I'll kick a little out and breathe in again to break up the smoke inside. Much better than choking out the whole thing. So, my opinion is that it is totally possible to exhale at least some THC.

As far as a concert goes, I agree with the doc...only because of the volume of fresh air around you. But if you're a few people in a car or tent you most certainly can get a second hand high.

The bottom line is if you take in a hit the only way you can absorb all the THC is if every particle of smoke touches the surface inside your lungs...and that is just not likely unless you take tiny hits and hold it in a long time.

Oh yeah, one more thing. A "shotgun" in my neck of the woods is when you take the wrong end of a lit joint or blunt into your mouth and blow....the other end is in the recipients mouth and they inhale. That shit gets you really fucked up!! Akin to gravity bong hits IMO.

as far as im awear the thc burns at a verry low temprature maybe thats why we get allot more stoned of bongs because the thc is cooled in the water so less burns away before it reaches ya lungs :) ive never got stoned of hotboxing a small room once again as far as i know the only thing your feeling is lack of oxygen.

hey i got a idea......

why dont you get your doc. friend and stick him in a car with you and like 5 other bud smokers you know and just blaze hard with him in the car and let him answer it for himself....

my opinion is this.... your body can only absorb so much smoke (thc-9, etc.) in a single toke, the rest is exhaled.....
it wouldnt be but a fraction as potent....
but it WOULD get someone a buzz
