ok heres the problem. We bought the seeds not knowing that they were sativas and now the things are getting TO TALL.

The place were we are growing them cant possibly accomodate such tall plants and they are starting to grow into the lights (that are already hung from the ceiling)

ok so my brother says we should cut the tops of the plants off so they will grow outwards instead of upwards BUT I'm worried this kind of thing will seriously screw up our harvest especially seeing that the plants are starting to bud. I dont want them all dieing or serverely messing up

please help.... what should I do

I think thats a bad idea during budding, but I'm not sure. If you do it during veging it'll make them grow out more. How tall are your plants?

DO NOT DO IT DURING BUDDING. you will loose the biggest part of your harvest if they are budding now they shoudlnt be getting any taller the plants will start to put all their energy into buds. If their already too tall and getting to much heat from the lights you could suspend a sheet of glass or plastic in between the light and the top of the plant to absorb some of the heat just make sure its not touching either the light or plant. Plastic might not work depending how close you will have to put it to the light it will just melt. Oh yeah and cutting it now is bad because it wont make two new shoots it will just go into shock youll kill the biggest budding area and youll slow the buds you still growing.

i just fold the top over like this, but make sure you don't snap it completely.
