I was in work the other day and this little old lady came in and started talking to me at the counter about how there's gonna be this convention and this leaflet she gave me was a personal invite.

I said thanks, but I didn't really believe in that kind of thing. I told her I'd pass the leaflet on to anyone who was interested. Okay, so I was planning on putting it in the bin, but it amounts to the same thing, as I knew no-one would care.

She started asking me all these questions like, "Do you believe in God?"

- No, I don't believe in the Christian God.

"But God loves you... blah, blah, blah, the Bible says so... blah, blah, blah..."

- I don't believe in the Bible either, I think it has some value, but there's a lot of crap in it too.

"I don't mean to be rude dear, but are you a Muslim?"

- *puzzled into silence* Am I a Muslim? Do I look like a Muslim? No, I'm Pagan.

"Oh. What's your name?"

- Cerys, and I'm very sorry, but I am in work, as you can see, and I need to get on with my job.

Firstly I'm wondering why she thought I was Muslim, of all things, and secondly, has anyone else had any encounters with Jehovah's Witnesses? Any interesting / amusing ways to get rid of them?

I have a little sign that a co-worker made for me, which has the words "No Jehovahs' Witnesses" on it, and a circle with a red line through the word "AWAKE", which is the name of one of their publications. I used to live near one of their centers, and they rang my bell a lot. I keep meaning to scan it, and post it here, but haven't gotten to that yet.

They have a HUGE Kingdom Hall in downtown Brooklyn, possibly their world headquarters, which is visible from many vantage points, and I read that they locked the doors on 9/11/01, as people were coming across the bridge from Manhattan, and refused to help, give out water, etc. This was NOT in the spirit of most of NYC on that day.

My mother, back in the early 1960's, was making something in the kitchen, and was using a large knife. The doorbell rang, and she just opened it, still holding the knife. When they (Witnesses) saw this, they ran away!

Hey Breuk,

Ya know, I think the Catholics are right, there must be a purgatory. For your office to be next to the Watchtower world offices. It's got to be over there somewhere.

for young jehovah's witnesses, there is no greater honor than serving the watchtower soceity at Bethel, printing their propaganda. I dont think they get paid, either. In JW soceity, the most righteous is judged by how much time is (wasted) in going door to door peddling damnation

I posted the whole thing in my livejournal as well, and got this reply;

"I applaud your blog, former JW member speaks out.

The core dogma of the Watchtower organization is that Jesus had his second coming 'invisibly' in the year 1914.Their entire doctrinal superstructure is built on this falsehood.

Jehovah's Witnesses door to door recruitment is by their own admission an ineffective tactic. They have lost membership in all countries with major internet access because their false doctrines and harmful practices are exposed on the modern information superhighway.

There is good and valid reasons why there is such an outrage against the Watchtower for misleading millions of followers. Many have invested everything in the 'imminent' apocalyptic promises of the Jehovah's Witnesses and have died broken and beaten."

It's a matter for: GrayMatter,,,,Good to see you Gray. That issue has been a sore one for them. Claimed "world would end" when there were 144,000, JW's which happened yeeeeeeeeeeears ago, then.....well....ummmm,....some are losing their "seats"?????, as they called them.

Passage in Revelations, refers to the 144k which is 12 x 12 thousand, twelves are significant thru out book, whatever.........few passages over it makes a reference that this same group is innumerable.

If the matter is gray then, it is a matter for Graymatter.

Went to one of thier churches and bitched them out while I was having a psycotic episode. Peeled in with my car and threw a crumbled up pamphlet that they gave me at one of them and was like what the FUCK is this?! Then they started shoving thier religeon in my face and got the cult leader on my case so I bounced.

Wow.

People don't realize that things are different some places because I smoked "Pot" right in front of this one old lady, Jehovah's Witness, and she had brown hair, and, also, looked like a male, like me, with a sister that drinks beer and smokes weed with me and my friends.

If you went to one of their churches, and "questioned" them about their leaflet, I don't think you can complain about them shoving their religion in your face. That's pretty much asking for it!

JW's want to make sure that they make contact with everyone in the world b4 the armeggedon. To give everyone a chance for reserection (sp?). They are by far the most persecuted religion.

Hah! Lmao. I went to see what was written underneath, what I said, and (just to clear things up), the Jehovah Witness was a male, one year-older than I.
