View Full Version : Cancer causing benzene in certain softdrinks

There are many soft drink beverages on the market both here in the United States, Europe and Asia that contain two harmful perseravative chemicals.

Those chemical additives are:

POTASSIUM BENZOATE and SODIUM BENZOATE.

These are derivates of the industrial chemical, benzene. A known carcinogen.
A petro by-product.

The problem in the beverage industry is when they combine either one of these two ingredients with ascorbic acid.

Ascorbic acid, (vitamin c) is not the problem as this is vital to sustain life and required to prevent acute induced scurvy, (a multitude of disease states) and full blown scurvy itself. You need ascorbic acid as its part of the human phyisological make up and neccessary to sustain life. You will die in 160 days without it as the early British and Antarctic expolers found out.
However this is not the way to obtain it.

When the beverage industry combines Potassium benzoate or Sodium benzoate with ascorbic acid, it chemically reverts back to benzene and sunlight and heat will raise this level even higher.

For example, a six pack of the beverage sitting in a warm or hot car will further raise these levels much higher.

Here in the States the Food and Drug Administration has known about this since 1990 (16 years) and has been dragging its feet on the issue.
Same in European nations.

They use benzene derrivatives to stop bacterial growth in beverages.
(a perservative).

Benzene derrivates do not belong in the human body. You will find this chemical listed as one of the worst in Material Safety Data Sheets in industry. Commonly used in things like brake cleaners, solvents etc.

Do not think the FDA protects your health anymore so than what has been let to happen with Recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone, (RBGH) and the dairy industry. Another source of a multitude of diseases and cancer in humans.

Soda also contains very high amounts of the bone de-mineralizer Phosphoric acid. It takes 25 glasses of water to flush out the phosphoric acid of 1, 16 oz soda. The high sugar masks the extreme acid taste so you dont really notice it.

At any rate read your labels and protect your health because no one else has done the job they are supposed to be doing to protect the public.

Why even have an FDA? The O.C.A (a group made up of ordinary citizens)
Is doing what the FDA should be doing.

The first part of this article link addresses Europe and the second half addresses the United States.

Have a good one.

The concentrate is a class 8 hazardous material, mostly contains phosphoric acid, which a common trade name of Sodium Benzoate. In essence, it's a corrosive, and it'll just shear through your skin if you touch it. That's the form that distribute to regional manufacturing plants to turn it into drinkable form.

Don't drink that shit.

Hmm. pretty interesting.

Did some experiments back in highschool with pepsi and a piece of steak.
Dissolves tissue quite well in 24 hours. Amazing how the stomach tollerates so much of it.

The stomach has one heck of a sturdy lining. And it secretes some pretty wicked substances itself. Like hydrochloric acid. A lot of urologists believe it's the benzene derivatives that contribute to bladder cancer.

Yeah I could see that happening for sure.

This is what scares you? Heh...People really need to take a look at the chemical compounds they ingest on a regular basis, I don't proclaim to be innocent of eating junk-food...but still, I tend to eat a lot healthier than my friends...If people realized what they ingested, I think it'd have an adverse effect on their diet. Look at what "Super Size Me" did to people...

Most people don't even realize that eating non-organic meats, because of the hormones and steroids injected into the livestock, throws off their chemical balances and causes mental and physical disorders. Doctors have found that the hormones in meat, have caused women to skip their periods or cause them to become completely irregular.

Everybody check out this link, extremely informative website, especially on a lot of the myths the FDA has propagated about vitamins and the such. All the info's on the left-hand side bar, enjoy :) .

on topic, I've always suspected that cola's were cancer causing, I was just waiting to find out one day (assuming it wasn't covered up).

I see you are new.(9) posts.

Your right.

I have been talking about hormones for months now.
On this section of health in fact is the thread "the meatrix", Last night had a thread about RBGH, posted another several months ago.

As far as benzene scare me? No. I avoid those things. I am just making others aware of what has been concealed so they can make up their own minds.

Thats all.
