I know that. I have a few theories on why they do that.

1) It's a farse. It's some sort of silly tradition that got out of hand.

2) Because boxing conditioning is one of the toughest out there, it may be unwise to strain your body while it's trying to mend and strengthen itself.

3) It may overly tire muscles before training or a match.

If I were a boxer, there's no way in hell I'd let a body like that go to waste :D
