its a documentary about the rise of the drug culture in music and the counter culture in the 60's and 70's i find it very interesting since i wasnt around then. they started off with marijuana and talked about high times and cheech and chong and george jung they are gonna cover all the drugs from weed to heroin. i recomend everybody that has cable watches this its very interesting.

Words cannot explain how much I love it when mary jane influences music. It's just a perfect combination if you ask me. Mary jane and music...ah...I dont think it's on for me :(, I hope some one records and it gets it to a file so I can view :D.:stoned:

Word ya'll! I hardly ever watch shows anymore since television is downright shite. But the past 3 nights, i have forgotten every day and around 12 or 1am after burning, I watch late night tele and run into this show. Now seeing this post, I am anxious to burn and watch this show tonight. I'd say it depicts the culture of 60's pretty well. People back then were more innocent and you can't help but realize that way of living couldnt exist today. Money rules the world so much more now. You have to drive with the way cities are laid out, you gotta work and sacrifice to afford decent living. YOu can't just live so "freely" anymore. My ole man went to Woodstock, and I can't help but feel like I would fit more into that time of life as opposed to today's world. Cheerio!

Yah I saw a few episodes of this show, and it's always interesting to see stuff like this. It was pretty cool actually to come home from a huge ass festival where I was emersed in a hippy culture to seeing this on tv talking about LSD and how it was such a huge part of music back when Hendrix was up and coming. Man I wish bands handed out acid at shows now!

haha yeah i love that show. so good.

i also love the fact that acid like almost dried up once the grateful dead broke up...they would have lsd punch bowls at all of their shows hahaaha. thats so sick

Its a Plant

nahh acid will never "dry up." She'll be around for all time. The same goes for the Dead, too.

hell man, in the late 60's to early 70's a party wasn't a party w/o the kool-aid pitcher...or a sinkful of special punch! it's just a shame people like owsley, leary and hofmann are gone. today's lsd is not worth the time or expectations and it seems as tho the original recipe has been lost over these short few decades when the last good batch was available to the masses (windowpane!)...

yea i saw that on the other night. i saw the 60's one and the 70's one. its pretty cool to hear all the people talk about their acid trips.

Oh I understand what you're saying as far as acid not being what it used to be, but it's still out there. Not nearly what it once was, but I don't think I'll ever write off LSD.

I dont understand how people can incorporate lsd into their lives so much like that. If I would try to take acid like that, i'd be a drooling, useless mess, letalone trying to play music, or socialize. How the hell can you do those things when you have no sense of reality? Everytime i ever tripped, i lost touch with reality (the only way i can think of to describe it, as tripping is un-describable) so bad that i could do nothing but sit there and hallucinate.

but it's still reality...just a different side of the same one we all know and currently reside in and the only difference is the perception of it all...

I especially liked the beginning of the "Teenage Wasteland" episode where they kept playing the Who's "Baba O'Riley" as the background song.

I never understood how they made so much good music in that era.

It's a pretty good show. The thing that the History Channel did about drugs, Cannabis, Heroin, Cocaine, and Opium were discussed and the one about Cannabis was really good. You should watch it if you haven't seen it.

They've done a 90's one, and all that mostly is about is the huge increase in XTC and all its wonders, which includes the rave scene. Then I think there was a little bit about crack, like in Washington DC. It's all informative and good stuff though.

I eat 'em up!

When I was watching it last night, I pounded my head against the wall. I wanted to be right in the middle of it in Haight-Ashbury in 1967. I wanted to be at golden gate park when 30,000 people were tripping on acid.
