No "special" kind of flo light is needed, just the normal tube flo's you're talking about - they're cheap to buy from many shops (like you said, home depot) ... As for Watts, if you're after just one SINGLE tube flo, prob look at one about 50w - and for DOUBLE tube look for 100w...that should do you nicely

na shouldnt be. Next need i'm buying 2 100w 5" tube flueros with the complete fixtures already on it; just screw it up (or hang it or whatever), plug it in and go - so i suggest buying one of those...saves alot of trouble

wuts the difference between single and double? are doubles more powerful than singles or less powerful, cuz i dont understand that if i get a double get a 100 watt and if i get a single get a 50 watt

double just has an extra tube than the single one's...
So 2 single's = 1 double....1 double is cheaper than 2 single's usually so yea

alright so one 100 watt double tube flo light should be perfect in my mini fridge for the vegatative period but wen the flowering period starts people say use the metal halide and do 12 hours of light and 12 hours of dark. how many watts should the metal halide be?

i dunno about the MH aye. when you start your flowering period with any light you'd wanna switch to 12/12 periods, and yea the 100w flo would do nicely in your mini fridge. 100w flo is more than i have at the mo and mine are doing alright (2 inches at the mo...buying more flueros soon)
I'm using only fleuros for my grow. ive been told that mh's and other powreful lights are far more expnsive to buy,run and run really hot so there's the risk of burning your plant if it's not fan-cooled or ventilated properly so yea thats why i'm all up for flueros - still grow nice plants though.:)Good luck with ur grow

Your going to have to stick to Floro for veg and CFL's for flowering.
But you still need an exhaust system.

I dont know where you're going to find 50-watt fluorescent tubes ... no such thing, as far as I know ... 4-footers are commonly 40 watts, and eight-footers are 80 watts ... GE Cool Whites provide your 'blue' spectrum for vegging, and GE Kitchen & Bath are 'red' spectrum, for flowering ... find them at WalMart for about $7 a pair ... :smokin:

There are some bad-ass big flouros designed just for vegging. I saw them at a hydro store, but I don't know if they would work any better than a bunch of regular ones.

the only 'big' wattages I have ever seen are in the CFL-style, not the tubes ... I might be missing something, where are you seeing those ? ... the T5 tubes have supposedly more output, but don't seem worth the big price difference, when you take lumens into account ... I just use the cheaper T12s ... :smokin:

Hmm,my dad says he can get them cheap from matesrates, he told me the 4ft and 5ft flo tubes (im gettign 4ft now,5ft too big) are the same amount of power... both 50w and are same price (because they sell more 4fts than 5fts)
arent flo tubes good for flowering??, not even 2 50w'ers?

I remember the day of my first ever grow! It was in my closet with flo's.I used flo's from start to finish! Sep,I used the wide spectrum when I flowered.Pretty good to be a rookie! 2 plants I got 3ounces.I thought that was good too!
