sup fellas....moved my grow space to the spare room in my house... this wardrobe is 330mm x 125mm x 138mm much better than my last space, which was probably only 1/3 this space...
My current setup:
15w cfl lamp ground
20w cfl hung
15w 1ft flo tube hung
fan heater used to up the temperature when it's low (since the lights at the mo suck) and the cold air fan is running most of the time...
Next week i'm buying 2 x 100w 5ft flo tubes to hang from the top, plus a proper fan (the current one sucks up ALOT of electricity..), timer for my lights and maybe a couple cfls. The lights i have at the mo i will get rid of when my new ones arrive..
as you can see from the pictures, a few have sprouted... couple are over an inch and the rest are just under, or just above the soil...i watered them just before i took the pics, thats why they look very wet...
I've noticed the 3 tallest plants have started to droop...what could be causing this?
These pots are only 3.5" in diameter, so how tall would my plants have to be till i should transplant them to bigger pots?
any advice, answers to qustions please express yourself...i'm a newb that needs some help with my baby girls:o
Will post up to date pics every couple of days.

Everything looks good man. I would seriously try to get at least a 400 watt hps light. Yes your pots are to small I would have just started them off in bigger pots. Keep up the good work man.

a heater?
iloveyou...
always add more lights for heat...
there are 2 major reasons plant stretch...
1. light is to far away
2. when night time temperatures are higher than day time temperatures, plants stretch...
careful with that heater...
if you need heat, add more light

ahhh i see....thanks alot guys...yea,na a 400w hps is too far outa my price range, plus i've heard they cause small spaces to heat up far too quickly and can cause fires, which is why im buying more flueros.
Im getting paid today so might be able to get more for my set-up this arvo...will post here if it happens.
Thanks garden knowm......i'm not using the fan heater anymore...only the fan cooler:pimp:

cool bro.
Good Luck with your new girls.
The stretching is usually lacking of light intensity related. Use reflectors to avoid it.
About your lighting: you said you are going to buy 5ft flo tubes, but you dont have 5 ft avalaible (its 1500mm). BTW, the VHO tubes are very little efficients, standard T8 triphosphor tubes are cheaper and it will give you a lot more light per watt, and if you use ellectronic ballast (buy the doubles: one ballast per 2 tubes), better efficiency.
6 tubes of 36w (4ft)would be appropiate for your space dimensions, but if heat isnt a problem, yo can put 2 or up to 4 more (with only 33cm in one dimension, tubes placed in the opposite wall can light plants from lateral very well, allowing you to grow higher plants). Put at least 4 tubes in cenital position (dont forget the reflector), and supplementary ones in the front wall, depending of the plants height you desire.

Thanks for the tips; but i've already sorted out my lights... My dad knows some guy that can get 'em quite cheap, 4ft and 5ft at the same price (since they sell more 4ft than 5er's) at 100w each (tube?) they're double tube'd..
But yea, unfortunatly not enough money for any more... My budget is only about $130, so i'm buying...
2 x double-tubed 100w flos (4ft since 5ft wont fit as u mentioned:o ) - $50 each.
fan - probably like $10...havnt checked yet
timer - $10 - $15 ive heard...
am buying 1 of the 2 lights today and probably the fan (since i dont need the timer for another week or so anyway...)
Will keep ya's up to date..

actually they aren't 100w, they're 80w (40w each tube) so yea...
160w of tube'd flos....they should be enough right?

Dude you seem pretty INTENSE about what your doing! That's a good thing! 400watt mh or hps can be found for around 125.00 to 200.00 it the bulbs that cost. They are as safe or safer than flo's.You got a ballast for every bulb.Increases yeild as well. But from the path your on,look's good! You'll be hunting HID lighting before ya know it! The best thing is! Ya ain't gotta have a license,to hunt'em.

Well, i had the 4ft'er on all night and was expecting quite a change in the plants in the morning from having those shitty lights on earlier, but when i checked them this morning there was no change, only 1 had stretched badly for the light (this is probably because the lights like 15-20cm away from tips of plants.... would lower it if i didnt run out of chain!:o) but yea no difference other than that. The grow room's also at a low 15 degrees celcuis which is too low.... hopefully that'll change up to 20c or so with the other light on Thursday or so...
Jdog, you use 4 5ft tubes? are they double-tubed or just single? and how much watt'ers?
will take pics soonish:pimp:

:rasta: i've decided to use my brain for once and i raised the plants since i couldnt lower the light:stoned: ....the depth between top of plants and lights is between 2 - 4", since my grow room is uneven:o ..
Since i put in the new light last night...this morning i found small traces of white stuff on my plants, around some pots and on small amounts of soil / bark, my mum says it might be mildue which is easily fixed, just mix some milk with water...see what you guys think if you can make it out (circled in red).
The lankiest bitch of em all is 2" tall (prob 2 and a half " since some is under soil from transplant) and still looks like its stretching like a bloody rubber band...
So far i'm using:
1 x 80w flo tube w/ ballast (what is a ballist exactly? it says it on the box:o )
Grounded timer
Superthrive every few days
Slow release plant food
This week i'm also buying:
1 x 80w flo tube w/ ballast
3-speed fan
4 x adjustable angle lights on a single base
4 x 25w cfl's

also just took some advice from someone and took some wood out of the wardrobe in MY bedroom, which has shiny white paint and have nailed 2 of those together and put it against the wall ( about 3ft tall by 2 1/2ft wide ) and put the other one against the door ( about 2ft tall by 2 1/2ft wide ) and reflects quite well.

your doin great man jsut a qeustion.....why did u only like 3/4 fill the pots?
s12fever
06-16-2006, 12:18 AM
dunno aye, when i was transplanting them, i tipped them upside down thinking they'd be secure in tight pot-shaped soil but the soil crumbled apart and i was left holding just the plant lol...thought i was gonna be putting more soil into the pots i guess, happened with all of em.
