I had one last night... it almost made me cry, it was so vivid. And I remember every detail, since I made sure I memorized it before I opened my eyes. This has been happening a lot lately, I wonder why? Any input? :)

i dunno, i've been having some pretty weird ass dreams too lately, alot of them, i feel very strong emotion in, for instance, in my dreams i can feel emotion as strong as if you watched one of your loved ones get their head taken off... it's never a joyous 'overpowering emotion' either, it's always either anxiety, fear, anger, or sadness, and the dreams almost always involve one or more of the following: my wife, my dead brother, my next youngest brother, or my mother. they also, almost always have something to do wtih drugs in one way or another, usually weed tho...
i don'tknow what's causing them, but i wish they would go away, it's kind of horrible to go to bed 'normal' then while trying to rest, having to deal with these emotions... another fucked up thing about it all is, i know i'm dreaming, but i can't change the dream, it does what it wants to do, i can't wake up, i can't make the emotions go away, and for some very odd reason, even tho i just stated i know they're only dreams, i can't convince myself that it's not real... these dreams are just so horrible, that i can't convince myself everything's ok, until i'm full awake, and whatever was bothering me so bad, is gone.
because of all this i'm also having worse anxiety while awake, and having more problems sleeping and staying asleep... i wake up probably 30 times a night (literally) i remember one time i kept waking up literally like every 20 mins or so, and i know cuz i would keep looking at the clock, cuz it didn't feel like i was asleep for very long inbetween, and i wanted to make sure. it sucks and i've found no link to stop them or slow them... it's like they're completely random... i know alot about psychology/dreaming and all that shit, so i know what to look for (i.e. stressful situations at home i may not be 'acknowledging', and the dream is my mind's way of telling me to deal with the problem, ect. ect.) but there's just... nothing... it really sucks to be plauged by nightmares, and have an extremely strong fear of going to sleep...

I practice lucid dreaming. The first time I did, it scared the crap out of me. I've discovered it can be a great tool. It's a good idea to write down everything as you remember it in the morning..since dreams have a nasty habit of fading.
There's alot of info on the internet about lucid dreaming. Check it out.

It's a completely different dimension when you realize you're dreaming, it instantly switches from bizarroland to a vivid as hell reality.
Last time I had one, I had just started realizing where I was right as I was waking up which ruined it.
It's pretty bazarre sometimes though, for example, I'd be in my old house in my mom's room, just staring out the window embrassing the moments i've had their, well at the same time believing I was there.. And suddenly i'm going out the window and there's a warehouse right next to it, and suddenly i'm in downtown, yet the house and whatever I saw out my window was still there, very bizarre feeling.

Most of my dreams, when I remember them, are very vivid, very realistic and very emotionally-intense. I've written some of them down before now, normally the weirdest or most upsetting, to try and have people interpret them. I've never figured out what sets them off though, because most of the time I don't remember dreaming at all.
I don't think the dreams I have are lucid dreams, because I'm not aware that they're dreams, and I can't control what's happening in them. Sometimes they tie into reality too - I've had a few where I've set an alarm off in the dream and then woken up to find my alarm is really going off. I don't think that it's the real world alarm that happens first though - in my dreams I normally have a bit of a build up to the alarm going off, for example I'm climbling something and I know if I fall I'll trip the sensors... and then I do fall.
So, sorry, no ideas why it's happening, but if you figure it out let me know! ;)

Friendowl- YES, you said it perfectly... the dream was about my son... both my sons actually, but my first son who passed away at birth was in it. He and my son now were twins... they were so close, and I was so happy. I felt... complete. Not that I feel incomplete now, per se, but it was just... beautiful. Yes. :o

I've had lucid dreams numerous times... several years ago when I was trying to recall my dreams more clearly and vividly... haven't even tried lately, but they still come occassionally.:D
Interestingly, a few years back I started taking Melatonin to kick in the "go to sleep" signal in my head because I tend to ignore tiredness and continue doing whatever I've been doing (reading, surfin' the net, whatever). My roommate started taking it also and found it helped her get a pleasant, relaxing night's sleep also. The main difference was... I've tripped 100s and 100s of times, she never has, but I had no lucid dreams and she on the other hand said it made her have crazy, lucid dreams frequently.
Strange, eh?
I haven't used Melatonin for a few years now, but I highly recommend it for it's ability to induce sleepiness (while NOT making you High) and because it does NOT produce ANY hangover effect whatsoever.

These things happen to me often.
Dreams, premonitions, insights and hunches.
Most are very real.
Heres an example.
The Hector Mine Earthquake 1999. 2:46 am Pacific Time, 7.1 magnitude.
Centered in the Joshua tree National park in the California desert.
I was several hundred miles away in Arizona.
I was having a vistor I guess you could say in my dream that told me to, "wake up an earthquake is coming" over and over.
I woke at 2:43 and was covered in sweat and looking at the digital clock.
3 minutes later the earthquake hit. Somewhat mild being several hundered miles away but definently noticeable.

These things have been going on since age 5.
Conscious premonition: July 2001.
"5 airliners will crash within 5 months" over and over.
4-airliners on 9/2001
1-airliner on 11/2001 (upstate NewYork)
5 planes/5 months, I had no further details.
Time is irrelevant to intuition. When you fully accept intuition amazing things happen. Scary sometimes however.
Many more similar experiences.

I would like to know more about this subject, lucid dreams, and how to make them happen. I think being able to do that might be therapeutic right now. I've been having dreams that I can't remember, but they've been bad ones, I know that. And I know my unconscious mind is working hard right now at processing the news that my sister no longer has very long. So I'm sure that explains the bad dreams. Anyway, anything someone can tell me or link me to would be greatly appreciated!

when you are dreaming
if you can tell yourself
your dreaming this a dream
then you can take over
also i heard that if you look at
your hands in your dream that
will kick off the lucidity
