On the Boards.. Who do you admire, and why?

I admire lots of folks. I think MaryJane in the Closet and Sensi, who were some of my earliest friends here, are both beautiful young ladies, inside and out. Truly nice people who I'm proud to know.

I admire Psycho4Bud and the other mods for their stand on flaming. Manners DO matter.

I admire Torog and IamPatient because they stand up for what they believe and they keep fighting the good fight, no matter whose opinions they come up against. They generally do this in a friendly and constructive manner, too, which is the mark of good folks.

I admire Shelbay because she does the same thing. And because she's faced rough times and come out on the other side stronger and more compassionate than a lot of people would.

I could list a long paragaph of others, but those are several who came to the top of my mind. I don't have to always agree with folks in order to admire them.

ok i've never really been one to tell yal how to do yal's jobs, but that's getting just a bit 'anal' with it.. i understand the popularity contest crap, but this isn't a popularity contest, it's just simply asking who you hold high respect for, and why....

we all like each other the same yadda yadda, some people just have more admirable traits, and some have less admirable traits... you can't honestly expect me to like some dipshit here just to start shit, as much as someone i 'respect'....

See... it's the negative impact these boards have... If we could simply keep it on a positive note then we wouldn't have a problem. The only thing is.. it never stays positive.. already, you've turned it negative with "you can't honestly expect me to like some dipshit here just to start shit, as much as someone i 'respect'"

So... this thread IS going to get closed, and i'm going to do it.. specificly because it's already gone off topic and turned negative..but let's discuss an alternative to these boards..

What I think we'd like to have... is a simple "Shout-out" board... I'll even sticky it, so it doesn't get lost.

Simply post a "shout-out" to the people or person of your choice.. Keep it positive... and say whatever you want... you don't have to include anyone specific if you don't want to, simply give a "shout-out" or hello to everyone on the board, or in the chat.
We don't like seeing people using these "popularity" boards to belittle or "flame" someone even if in a subtle way....
It's un-needed... in out world today, we come on here to get away from the negativity of society. If i was going to be insulted, i'd turn on the T.V. or pick up a news paper....
Hence our whole "no flaming" rule... Life isn't an excuse to treat other people like shit and if you think it is, well... i don't have to say it, do I ?

A Shout-Out Sticky... Think of it like a posting board at a university for the students.. people can stick anything on it, as long as it's not a dirty picture, or someone saying "YOU SUCK" then they can put it up there. Got something to say? Shout it out...

There will be moderation of it of course, because we'll have people ignoring the requests. So don't expect it to be a free for all....but as long as it's positive and stays positive, i think there would would be no problems..

In return we will be able to keep the boards free of these type's of boards and clean up the lounge a bit.
