I hate it when people use a word in the exact opposite way that it's meant to be used. Technically, they are not the same thing. They are different. But for our purposes, they are pretty much the same. Like when people say something literally happened when it didn't. Such as: "Oh my god, when he walked into the door, my jaw LITERALLY dropped to the fucking floor." No, it figuratively dropped to the floor. Why is it that 90% of the world's population are morons?

I believe using the term literally is supposed to emphasise the situation and create a sense of showing a further exageration of the situation, creating it into something more exciting. However you are technically right, the term is a manner of speaking.

It's hyperbole.

Adam what was your purpose for posting on this thread? You did not answer the question on whether bottle water is better then tap. All you did was call someone a moron for using the word technically wrong. Does it make you happy inside to belittle someone on a pot smokers website about a grammatical error?

meh.. doesn't matter to me, whatever's handy, all i care about is that it's clear (clean) and it's not old and stagnant (sp?) i don't actually intend on drinking the water, so i really don't care if it has a few more impurities that i'm not going to taste/feel/smell/hear/see... there's probably way worse stuff floating around in the air around you as you're reading this, then there is in tap water..

When it comes to my bowls (hey, shut up, i just said it because it stars with a B! lol), bongs, or bubblers I just use water, but I make sure to put it in the freezer like ILikeBongs. I put it in there for about 40 minutes until its not ICE, but its sorta slushy and it keeps it niiiiice and cooooold throughout the entire session.

Bottled/filtered tastes a bit cleaner, depending on your locale. If your tap water has a particularly strong taste (around here, tap tastes pretty strongly of limestone), the difference will be greater. I would use bottled/filtered water when it's available, but if it's not, I wouldn't worry too much (unless you live in LA or something, the tap water there is awful).

Almost all tap water around here tastes just as good and smokes just as good as bottled water.

water quality depends on location. Use whatever works man, its not like your going to really be noticing the water when your hitting your pipe, its the weed your lighting it for. I like the idea of chilling the water, that hasn't occured to me yet, but I haven't had an opportunity to chill water when I use a bong :)) [in Hawaii we often hot boxed the car with a badass triple thick bong, now that is REAL hotboxing]

If you didn't have your head up your ass you'd know that most bottled water is nothing more than filtered tap water. Next time you decide to be a total dick to someone on the internet, do some research.
