Hello everyone glad to be part of this site. This is my first grow but have read everything that this site has to offer .So i came to the conclusion of the grow that i am now doing
Materials:
1 file cabinet: 25$
Honewell Turbine fan :10$
4 42wtt CFL's:7$ each

Fish Emulsion:6$
Superthrive:7$
FoxFarm Tiger Bloom:15$
FoxFarm Big Bloom :15$

This box is pretty cheap and easly made.Hopefully other newbies will follow in my foot steps and actually read up on the hobby instead of asking so many qustions that could easly be answerd by reading .As of now my plant is 5 days old.The seeds are bagseed. But the inner leaf production is turning purple so i might have a purple strain on my hands .This thing hasnt stretched one bit .Im growing 2 plants 1 is 5 days other is 3 days.Hope you fellow tokers enjoy.
Pic 1.Is of my plants with lights on temp staying between 78 and 80
Pic 2.Is of hole box (There is alot of light leakage but i dont care because im not trying to hide it but when everything is closed up its not as much in pic )
Pic 3.Is showing where the purple is coming in
Pic 4.Is of hole setup inside.(Please over look the dirty bucket lol)

Yes this is my complete grow i plan to have only 1 plant befor i go into flowering i wanted 2 plants to even out female to male since its a 50/50 chance. If it starts getting to big ill do a single plant SCROG or some LST.Im not trying to get 5-6 ounces off this little box .But i do expect 1 1/2 ounces to 2ounces off 1 plant if everything goes well

There are a number of things you can do to increase your odds of getting more females to males. I don't have a scanner or I'd put it up for you. I've read the Cannabis Grow Bible many times. I know it has info in there about improving the ratio. I think in nature you'll get 70 to 80 % females, but that's just a guess...

Hey ''Lady Vapor '' since you dont have a scanner is there away you could give me a quick run down of some of the ways to turn male/female to more females?Iv herd if you give the plant more blue spectrum during veg it could boost up your chances of female's .Or if anyone eles has any tips on the male/female chances i would greatly appreciate it .I mean iv read alot of ''myths'' of turning male/female but none have any good evidence to show it works.

From literature and our own findings it appears that the growth of a male or female plant from seed, except for the predisposition in the gender chromosomes, also depends on various environmental factors. The environmental factors that influence gender are: a higher nitrogen concentration will give more females. a higher potassium concentration will give more males. a higher humidity will give more females. a lower temperature will give more females. more blue light will give more females. Fewer hours of light will give more females. It is important to start these changes at the three-pairs-of-leaves stage and continue for two or three weeks, before reverting to standard conditions.

nice grow man... you say thats a file cabinet? drawer on the bottom and closet above it right? i have the same thing, removing the floor of the closet and making it one space obviously. We have pretty much the same size box so i wanna def keep watching yours to see how its doing. The only thing i did diferently was that istead of raising my plants, i screwed hooks into the top and hung the lights down. This way i can raise them as the plant grows...
keep it up!

hola amigo...
well, I can not see your pictures at this time... I will look later... your set up sounds good...
there is no reason to grow your plants larger than 8 inches...
add more lights if possible... and keeping the lights less than 1 inch from your plants is key to large yields...

congrats on the new babies

I started this summer's crop with 10 cfls at 2700K and started to flower at about 6 inches now they are about 2 feet tall even with the Lst. Strectchin like a bitch.

hi dime...
if you started your plants from seed... which I am fairly sure you did... it really does not matter if you flower them at 4 inches or 8 inches... they will grow to 18-24 inches... even if it is an indica
why?
well... a plant that is started from seed can not be forced to flower until it is "mature"... so they will just keep growing until they are mature enough to flower even under a 12/12 light regiment...
clones are different.. they can be flowered at 1 inch tall and they will only double to quatruple in size...

hey cflmaxyeild101 what are the dimensions of your file cabinet?
keeko
06-11-2006, 03:39 AM
dr. smokealot, i believe it sorta matters if your using all CFL's, somebody correct me if im wrong, but 6500k (cooler, whitelight) is better for vegging and 2700k(warmer, redder light)is better for the flowering.....hope that helps

Kep those cfls as close as you can without touching the plant. And make sure you fix those light leaks before you flower.
Or you could end up with hermie.
Good Job though, so far.
I started this summer's crop with 10 cfls at 2700K and started to flower at about 6 inches now they are about 2 feet tall even with the Lst. Strectchin like a bitch.
Not only light spectrum affects stretching. Night/day temp difference, watering, and specially, light intensity.
The most common error when growing with fluos or CFL are dont give enough importance to reflectors, wich are esential. And using too small watage bulbs and tubes, wich are less efficients and give less intensity.
Good luck in your grow

nice. mine are 7-8 days old NOT including when they were germinating straight in the soil, and they're only tiny, skinny sprouts starting to grow their 2nd set of leaves!! What strain is this?
CFLMaxYeild101
06-15-2006, 03:56 PM
I have no clue for the strain. Its a bag seed .But if anyone has any advice on my plants or think im doing something wrong please tell me.Also i havent added any ferts yet for veg but i want to flower in about 7 days should i add any veg ferts for veg or should i just go into flowering and then add the flowering ferts?

just a question but are you losing track of your days? cause on june 7 you said your plants were 5 days old and now days later isn't the bigger one suppose to be 22 days old?
CFLMaxYeild101
06-25-2006, 05:24 AM
Your right h3o .I guess i was counting June 7th as day 1 .Thanks for looking out though .Guess i will start 12/12 tomorrow.Man i feel like a jack ass for being wrong on how old they are .And i thought i was doin a good job with CFL's .
your doing a damn good job with cfl's, my biggest plant is 14 days old and its so stretched because i didnt fully research before i started. Do you remember how many nodes you had at 2 weeks? Im just starting to see my 4th node pop up.

drumanick0 . Thanks bro for comment but both my plant's turned out to be male :( .But here on the lighter side .I was playing KillZone on my PS2 online and just so happend i bumped into a fellow grower that is on this website and told him my bad luck. And just so happend he sent me a clone about 2 weeks ago. I only asked him for a seed but he didnt have any because the plants he was growing only came in clones and was unable to produce seeds that were stable. So now im growing the clone and will post pics when done .

Heya, just so you know taking a clone from a clone reduces yield and potency. Im not sure on the exact figures, but Im sure that someone here will be able to help you out on that if you want to know. If its only for personal and you want a little more than you got from that one clone, then Im sure it wont matter :)

I too am just starting with CFLs and the easiest lighting fixture I found can be found in lowes in the section with shop hardware near the extension cords. Its a plug in socket that comes in several different sizes with a clamp & a reflector. like 50, 100, 150 and 300 watt sizes, no wiring required, just plugs in.
Here's an example:
