LAUER: On the 9-11 widows, an in particular a group that had been critical of the administration:

" These self-obsessed women seem genuinely unaware that 9-11 was an attack on our nation and acted like as if the terrorist attack only happened to them. They believe the entire country was required to marinate in their exquisite personal agony. Apparently, denouncing bush was part of the closure process."

And this part is the part I really need to talk to you about:

"These broads are millionaires, lionized on TV and in articles about them, reveling in their status as celebrities and stalked by griefparrazies. I have never seen people enjoying their husband??s death so much."

Because they dare to speak out?

COULTER: To speak out using the fact they are widows. This is the left's doctrine of infallibility. If they have a point to make about the 9-11 commission, about how to fight the war on terrorism, how about sending in somebody we are allowed to respond to> No-No-No. We always have to respond to someone who just had a family member die--

LAUER: But aren't they in the middle of the story?...

COULTER: ...Because then if we respond, oh you are questioning their authenticity. No, the story is...

LAUER: So grieve but grieve quietly?

LAUER: What I??m saying is I don??t think they have ever told you, you can't respond.

COULTER: Look, you are getting testy with me.

Godless is gutless http://www.gregpalast.com/_godless_is-gutless
Anne Coulter says we??re ??Godless? ?? we ??liberals.? And by ??liberals,? she means anyone who wants to keep the government out of our underpants, out of Iraq, and out of the business of helping Big Business shoplift America.

It??s time someone took on the blonde bully.

Anne, I realize this is a special day for you, releasing your book on June 6 ?? 06-06-06.

Going through it, I must, admit, is heavy going: ??Godless?? is a 300-page brick of solid meanness and pin-head hatreds packaged like a fashion magazine: Big Brother wears Prada.

You accuse those who don??t sign on to your list of prejudices as the Lord??s enemies. That??s not original, Anne: the Taliban thought of it before you and they too were partial to dressing in black.

You want to talk about Godless? OK, let??s go:

Would the Lord lie us into a war?

Would the Lord let thousands drown in New Orleans while chilling at a golf resort?

Would the Lord have removed tens of thousands of Black soldiers from the voter rolls as the Republican Party did in 2004?

You talk about being ??Christian? ?? but with all your zeal to fire up electric chairs and Abrams tanks, you sound more like a Roman.

I suggest this, Anne: let??s debate. Set the time, set the place, and I??ll be there. Nose to nose, my facts versus your fanaticism.

But I know you don??t have the guts to do anything but lob idiocies from your electronic Fox-hole.

Your new book is called, ??Godless.? Your autobiography should be called, ??Gutless.?

WASHINGTON (AP) ?? New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton accused commentator Ann Coulter of making a "vicious, mean-spirited attack" on outspoken 9/11 widows whom the television pundit described as "self-obsessed" and enjoying their husbands' deaths.

Coulter writes in a new book, "Godless: The Church of Liberalism," that a group of New Jersey widows whose husbands perished in the World Trade Center act "as if the terrorist attacks happened only to them."

She also wrote, "I've never seen people enjoying their husbands' deaths so much."

"Perhaps her book should have been called 'Heartless,'" the senator said. "I know a lot of the widows and family members who lost loved ones on 9/11. They never wanted to be a member of a group that is defined by the tragedy of what happened."

The New York Democrat and former first lady said she found it "unimaginable that anyone in the public eye could launch a vicious, mean-spirited attack on people whom I've known over the last four and a half years to be concerned deeply about the safety and security of our country."

New York's Republican Gov. George Pataki also voiced anger and surprise at Coulter's words.

Coulter appeared Tuesday on NBC's "Today" show, and stuck by her stance, saying the women used their grief "to make a political point."

The women, who are still pushing for changes in how the government guards against future attacks, issued a joint statement after Coulter's television appearance.

"We have been slandered. Contrary to Ms. Coulter's statements, there was no joy in watching men that we loved burn alive. There was no happiness in telling our children that their fathers were never coming home again. We adored these men and miss them every day," the women said.

Let's take Coulter to the veterinarian and have her put to sleep . . .

(I realize with a name like Birdgirl, I'm leaving myself wide open for similar retorts. So just try and refrain unless you're really wickedly funny.)

WASHINGTON, D.C. ?? United States Senator Frank R. Lautenberg (D-NJ) issued the following statement today in response to remarks made by right-wing pundit and author Ann Coulter.

??Ms. Coulter??s shameless attack on the victims of the worst act of terrorism in American history can only engender disgust at her tasteless statements when she asserts that their husbands?? deaths bring them joy. Her bookselling antics and accompanying vulgarity deserve our deepest contempt.

Her foul remarks trivialize the deaths of every single person who died that terrible day, including the lives of those brave police officers and firefighters who ran into those burning buildings,? said Senator Lautenberg.

Matt Lauer, who seems like a decent-enough chap, should have thrown her off the show, but he doesn't have the power to do something like that.

She's a hater. I'm listening to a piece about her comments right now on ABC News.

The more I think about what she's been saying, the more I think she may be doing what a lot of conservative commentators do. O'Reilly and Limbaugh do this a lot, I know, because I've heard them admit to it in less public forums. Actually, I've seen Al Franken do this, too, so it's not just conservatives. She's just spouting controversial, "contrarian" opinions--ones that'll get a lot of notice--in order to draw attention to herself and sell more books. That doesn't make it any better, but in order to sleep at night, I have to hope that deep in her heart she doesn't believe everything she says.

One of the things I think when I see her is always, "When did you last eat a meal?"

You're the one bitching about what she says, why is it *bad* for her and not for *you* other than your two-faced hypocricy and liberal indignation, of course? Ann is like teh Howard Stern of the right, she's a shock-jock and you play right into her hand by ignoring the substance of her points because, and sometimes rightfully so, of the bitter way she words her subjects. It's no different that the left-wing extremists, except that you may agree with them. I don't agree with everything she says but two wrongs don't make a right...unless you're a liberal and she sometimes makes good points underneath the over-the-top rhetoric that she uses to mimmick/mock the left.

I was wondering why Ann had so much hatred for these ladies, it seems they were demanding an independent 9/11 investigation, and had very good questions about 911...Same ol neocon tactics, clear as day.. nope cant ask questions surrounding one of the biggest events to happened on U.S. soil, nope our surpreme decider say's "Let us never tolerate outrageous conspiracy theories concerning the attacks of September the 11th, malicious lies that attempt to shift the blame away from the terrorists themselves, away from the guilty." <<------I think he was talking about himself..

"Government is not reason, it is not eloquence, it is force; like fire, a troublesome servant and a fearful master. Never for a moment should it be left to irresponsible action."

To find out who failed and why, the commission has navigated a political landmine, threatening a subpoena to gain access to the president's top-secret daily briefs. Those documents may shed light on one of the most controversial assertions of the Bush administration ?? that there was never any thought given to the idea that terrorists might fly an airplane into a building.

"I don't think anybody could have predicted that they would try to use an airplane as a missile, a hijacked airplane as a missile," said national security adviser Condoleeza Rice on May 16, 2002.

"How is it possible we have a national security advisor coming out and saying we had no idea they could use planes as weapons when we had FBI records from 1991 stating that this is a possibility," said Kristen Breitweiser, one of four New Jersey widows who lobbied Congress and the president to appoint the commission.

The widows want to know why various government agencies didn't connect the dots before Sept. 11, such as warnings from FBI offices in Minnesota and Arizona about suspicious student pilots.

"If you were to tell me that two years after the murder of my husband that we wouldn't have one question answered, I wouldn't believe it," Breitweiser said.

I would also state why High level Pentagon Officials were warn not to fly on 911, but the rest of America was not, and who warned them
