I'm pretty sure hps are better due to the greater intesity of light, i dont know wether its possible to compensate with lumens gained through addin more watts

Yes, the more watts you have in a fluo the higher the lumen output.

HPS can do this in lower wattages than fluos cos they are High Intensity Discharge lamps. Fluos arnt, so you need more to get the same lumen output.

Vegging under a HPS is ok though, and probably cheaper on the bill.
