Unfortunately, where I live supercell storms systems are not common.
I plan to visit the US of A at some stage. But not to see the 'big apple'. I want to see plenty of fierce tornadic supercells packing baseball sized hail.
I'd also like to stay within a major city if possible.
I'm aware of 'tornado alley', but what are the best hot spots?
What months are the best to view these?
Do you think I'd crap my dacks if I actually saw a tornado touch down?
Please recommend and tell me your cool stories.
The pictures demonstrate what I'd like to see.
Apologies in advance to anyone who has lost family, friends or property from these events.

Awsome picks.
Though mother nature can produce horrific tragety. It can be very pretty at the same time.
Ask Garden KNome. He knows this better then anyone.
I've only been in earthquakes and hurricanes.

Yeah like the pics, but i dont know anything about them we dont get nething like that in the UK
all of the best places for storm chasing are in the heart of the bible belt and redneck land...god's piunishment for being so closed-minded.

Rednecks and the Bible Belt. Rednecks aint all bad, some of the finest herb grown in the U.S.A. comes from deep in the middle of that Bible Belt.
"Closed Minds", huh? So that means because we dont wanna see two fags blowing each other on Main Street our minds are closed. Or we do not agree that killing a baby at 8 months old in the mothers womb is murder and not "late term abortion"? Is that what "closed minds" means? We think the A.C.L.U is comprised of goofballs? We want all the Mexicans sent the hell home ? So, thats "closed minds". I am glad you let me know whats up. I am going to opt for keeping my "mind closed" based on your definition.
One thing though, I do get to thank God every morning that I do not live in a state that has Babs Boxer, Nance Pelosi, or do I have to think Howard Dean is simply "misunderstood" instead of certifiably insane . And you guessed it, Hilary does not have my vote in 2008.

:D I'm far from 'closed-minded', but I agree with that analogy 100% ... only damn thing is, now that I'm old, broke, and sick, I need those friggin' Socialists ... they at least (half-assed) support medical marijuana, Social Security, and Medicare ... they all suck, just differently ... :smokin:
EXACTLY boner. i believe you just proved my point.

The place you want to visit for those Supercells is Nothern Oklahoma, Kansas. Google it you can find plenty of information and even schedule storm chasing tours!! Only in America can you pay someone to take you within yards of a powerful storm like those!
The tours are great.....though if you are there at the right time of the year (mid-late summer) you do not need a tour. I do recommend purchasing the rental car insurance!!

lol...I'll ask Garden KNowm when he gets back. He;s there right now.
I lived in Alabama for a while. And it wasn't that bad guys.
I live in a small town in Cali that is more red neck then Alabama was.
So all this talk about the Bible belt is bull shit. Just isn't true.
That one Republican dude is not all there is there.
Alot of cool smart people too. Not just discriminating hicks like that last guy. lol

well i am a bit late getting in on this one but i have a comment or two. First off,i live in Bridge Creek, Oklahoma. Look it up, Biggest Tornado in history came right down through my town then went on to destroy the home i grew up in in Midwest city. This IS Tornado Alley and You are at the Buckle Of The Bible Belt. Now Is everybody here thumping Bibles,NO. It is a Conservative place who generaly has a democrat led state government yet almost always votes for a republican for president. Boots are not required, but if you are out in the feilds i would suggest you at least were long pants. Garden Knowm, please contact next time you are around and i would be happy to show you what Sooner Bred stands for, although you are probably much more versed in cultivation there are some great genetics to be had here, although most is brought back from far off places. As for rednecks, well yes i will admit that the stars and bars are flown often with pride around here. This however is not conclusive to this area or even region. I moved to Washington state for 15 years and recently moved back, If you want to see redneck stop in Sedro Woolly,Derington or Okanogan, all within a phat joints drive of the Canadian Border, settled between the very liberal towns of Bellingham and Seattle. Bigatry is not regional its parental! For those that are willing, the hospitality in the Alley is far greater than you may believe. Please come see our Tornados and enjoy our smoke you may well leave a bettor person for it,Peace to all, from a Tornado Alley Redneck!

Elcheapo, please come see our tornados stay in Okc or in Norman.Leave the bible, bring the boots, although you can were a pair of Bickenstock hiking boots like i have.On second thought, you may need a bible if you go chasing those things, thats if you believe in that book.
