Well, my mom told me that they were illegal to have but I'm just now realizing that the guys at Bangbus uses tinted windows so the cops say what they're doing is not illegal because there is no form of illegal exposure. Of course they're a big pr0n company so they probably can pay for any ticket or w/e but I wanted to know is it legal for civilians to have tinted windows in any way?

It's legal to have them tinted to a certain percent I believe, I don't know what it is though and I'm lazy.

Well limo tint is one of the darkest, and you have to have a permit from a dr. or someone who has connections to *legally* have it.
Then there's 5%, 10%, and so on, with the higher the percent, the more amount of light gets through the tint. I think 5% is illegal in most states, but all the other ones should be good.
I say just get them like 5% at most, b/c that just gives cops another reason to pull you over..
OR, get a note signed from an eye doctor that your eyes are sensitive and you can legally have them dark. Lol, a lot of my friends have "sensitive eyes" I guess..

here in cali
we can have the back windows
dark as we want [limo tint]
but the drivers and passenger
windows have to be able to see the occupants
cops only use this as an excuse to pull you over
if your a normal lame and your windows are tinted
nothing will happen
if we got six bald fools up in the ride then its a problem

Well, you don't take it off.
Most of the time, cops will scratch the tint with their keys right on the spot, so you have to get it removed.
Had that happen to soo many of my buddies.

Well if you go to the right shop and have it done, some places replace tint if something like this happens. Still, I don't think cops should do that, but hey, they're the law.
It's a sad thing.

Because you could be doing anything behind those windows. Smokin a blunt, executing some one, holding some one at gun point anything :p.

I guess they're illegal cause the common everyday things you do (smoke a blunt, drinking a beer, having a blowjob, calling on a cell phone) are illegal on the road..
Which is why you're probably allowed to have tinted windows on your house...... right?

The main requirements for legal window tinting in California are:
The windshield and front driver's side and passenger's side windows cannot receive any aftermarket tinting.
If the rear window of a vehicle is tinted, the vehicle must have outside rearview mirrors on both sides.
The law prohibits any person from driving any motor vehicle with any object or material placed, displayed, installed, affixed, or applied upon the windshield or side or rear windows, with certain limited exceptions.
However, legislation signed into law effective January 1, 1999, exempts from the above prohibition specified clear, colorless, and transparent material that is installed, affixed, or applied to the front driver and passenger side windows for the specific purpose of reducing ultraviolet rays. If, as, or when this material becomes torn, bubbled or otherwise worn, it must be removed or replaced.
Found that on the CHP webiste. Some guy named Ponch helped me out.

ok the law on Window tint is kinda complicated
Window Tint from Factory can be up to 50% Visibility, BUT
Any tint bought by yourself has to have a 75% visibility, anything else is illegal.
No Car shop is gona give you illegal tint, they will lose their business license.

no they aint the law they are the upholders of the law, they get away with so much shit because people give them power they dont have, when you get pulled put ur mobil phone on to record, then if they break the law you can prove it,just make sure you say his number and ask him his name or her

i believe the primary reason is when the police walk up to your car, they see you. Its my understanding that a cop was shot and killed many years ago because he couldnt see in the car.
As a teen i used to get tickets up the ass for having dark tint. Tint shops will do whatever you ask them even put those ugly drips on your window (yes I had em)
I think every state is different. In florida i think the 2 front windows had to belighter then the rest and theres usually a small mark on your winshield where the front strip can come too.
Heres something I learned from all those tint tickets. A cop cannot give you a ticket unless he has a tint gun. it basically a 2 sided gun that shoots light through the window and measures how much comes through. Without that, tell him/her to fuck off. Tint is subjective to many variables. Take a tinted car and open a window during the day, open 2 windows. You will see a big difference through the non open windows. Its a combo effect.
And yes, dark tint at night is a PITA when trying to back up :)

yes it is different from state to state
and cops do need tint guns to right tickets

In canada (actually Ontario only) it is 35% in the drivers side and 5% in the others but the road side test is the real factor. I fthe officer sits in the car and you are on the other side of the street and can't tell how many fingers he's holding you are done.... This is an old school test that has been held up by case law thus far.

In Va you can only have 50% on your front side windows no tint on windsheild, and 35% for the rear windows, thats for a "car". For a suv or a panel van you can have 50% on your front windows, and any tint on the back windows. I have 30 percent tint all around my suv execpt for the windsheild. The 30% in the back, is over the factory tint so its pretty dark in the back. On all 4 cars I have had over the 5 years I have had at least 35% percent tint on my front 2 windows and have never had a problem with the strict Va police. But once you go down to 20% on your front windows police will hassle you.
