View Full Version : The Worst Roommate You Ever Had

I was just telling this story to someone and thought I'd post a thread about it. Tell us about the worst roommate you ever had.
For me, it was in college. At the start of my third year, I got sick and spent the preceding summer in the hospital. So I ended up submitting my paperwork late and bunch of mess. Ended up they didn't put me with my roommate, but with an exchange student Greece.
I knew the semester was going to be bad when on my first day, my roommate says they screwed up his paperwork and he was supposed to room with someone else. So, after I hauled all my crap up three floors, we worked out a deal where I'd take his roommates spot.
So now I end up with a guy from Turkey and it SUCKED!! He didn't like my music, didn't like the smell of anything I ate (I eat alot of West Indian food), and was a complete SLOB. Dirty drawers and other clothing all over the place, half eaten food containers just sitting out, he never washed his hands...just a Filthy McNasty.
Things came to a head one day when my ATM card got sucked into the ATM machine. I needed to get cash to cop so I could sell. Well, stupid me used the wrong PIN one too many times and the machine ate up my card, on a SUNDAY!!! I was PISSED! So I get back to my room and I admit, I have a temper...while I was the only one in the room, I broke a desk and threw a CD player against the wall. So my roommate comes by about 1 hr later and asks what happened. I tell him and he gets some stuff and leaves.
So now I'm on the phone trying to get some money from my father when Public Safety rolls up and wants to escort me to my room. I say sure and asks what's up. Apparently my roommate became in fear for his life and went to PS. They decided to investigate and search my room in the process. During which, they came across a bong, pipe, a stack of cash, some empty dimes, and pipe screens. They take it all (but eventually gave the money back...bastids) and I got hit with everything...paraphelnia, possesion (resin in the bong), distribution (eventually dropped). On top of that, they tried to fine me for the condition of the room and for illegally swapping rooms. I was able to get out of the fine for the condition of the room b/c on a subsequent visit, they found he was the slob and not I.
So all in all...academic probation and community service (mentoring). I swear though, I will NEVER take another roommate as long as I live!

Man that sucks. I've never had a roommate unless you count the four other girls I had to share a dorm room with in boarding school. We were all too young to really be any more annoying than teenage girls can be to each other - just your general bitching really. Even if I were in dorms at uni now, they're private - one dorm room per person, and some of them even have personal en-suite showers and toilets.

military roomates was awful....
I nearly got into fights with all of them
one guy pushed me when his friend entered the room, I pushed him back, then I said hit me and I'll knock your f---ing teeth out,
He just turned on his stereo and ignored me because his friend decided to leave

To cut a ridiculously long story short, my flatmate Jennifer moved out and I had the task of finding a new mate.
The flat itself was gorgeous - an executive open planned flat with en suite bathrooms and oak floors, so I had no shortage of potential flatmates but I chose a girl that smoked weed, her name was Ashleigh.
Although she was only 17 (I was 20) she worked in a letting agents so I thought she might be mature for her age and have an idea how to look after such a nice flat.
Well.
I used to come home from work and she'd be sitting with about 15 of her 14-17 year old goth mates, taking over the entire living room area, all of them shouting and carrying on (generally behaving like 7 year olds) I asked her a few times nicely, to stop having so many people over every single night but she didnt listen. The neighbours started complaining about the noise and she kept me awake most nights when I had a 9am start the next day
She bought a snake & started keeping dead baby mice in our freezer, right beside all my frozen meat. She would have parties almost every night leaving the flat in a terrible state and she'd not clean out her cupboards for weeks, till I had to do it myself due to the awful stench coming from her mouldy food.
The final straw came one night when I was in bed, dozing off to sleep when one of her daft male friends staggered drunk into my bedroom at about 1am thinking it was the bathroom.
I jumped out my bed FURIOUS and stormed into the living room where she was having another one of her parties with all her school friends and yelled at them all to get out.
I then wrote a letter of complaint to the landlord who came round to the flat, at my request, to inspect the damage she had caused to the flat in the 6 weeks she had been there.
He then issued us BOTH a written warning advising if the flat was not back to the way I had kept it, within 2 weeks, we were both getting chucked out.
The stupid girl ended up getting us both chucked out and I'll never forgive her for that, considering it was such a stunning flat and I lost my 500 pound deposit.
I've had about 10 flatmates in my life and most of them have been a nightmare to live with!

my homeboy ralph was the worse
when i got my new place i felt bad for the homie
so i let him move in.[big mistake]
this fool smoked straight crack everday.
i didnt realize till it was too late.
when someone hits the crack pipe they trip hard
he would take a hit then hide his pipe and his dope.
two minutes later he was looking for his dope and pipe again
he would do this like 100 times an hour it was annoying
he wouldnt say words just stare and look at you then get up and hit it
when i found out i told him not to smoke in my house or else
i came home one night and my dog was in the corner of the room

Fucking hell, that must have been so annoying. After all the crap you put up with from her, getting kicked out must have been the crappy icing on the cake of crappiness.

Wow, Big Cal. So that was the LONG story you mentioned in the other thread. That blows.
OK, I had a roommate in the dorm in college. Diane. An absolute pig in all sorts of ways. She let crap and dirt collect on every surface of the room including my side, from all her trash. She left spit-out gum on top of our beds or on books or clear surface spots. She didn't seem to change clothes or underwear very often, but she still piled up dirty laundry till it began to stink and draw bugs. She didn't bathe or wash her greasy hair as often as she should have, and she had every physical problem known to man, from asthma, which she played to the hilt (I have it too, so I'm mostly sympathetic) to scoliosis, which she played to the hilt (couldn't carry things up and down the stairs), to bad female problems, which she played to the hilt (lots of groaning and requests for heating pads and pain pills). She had body odor and chronically bad gas. And she took tampons out IN THE ROOM instead of going into the bathroom to do that. Deeply and truly nasty. It was like living with the creature from the Black Lagoon. I basically abandoned ship and went and stayed at home, where it was clean and people weren't pigs.

Nah, that other 'incident' is a whole other, really, really, really looooooooooooong story. LOL! To be young again...
Anyway, what is it about roommates who have no respect for others or for the living spaces of others!? That seems to be a recurring theme.

All my mates were great. Probably because when applying for a dorm, I checked all the boxes on the list of a good room that a school nerd who doesn't have any fun would apply for. (my parents forced me to)
I was worried my roommates might be booksmart boring nerds but they turned out to be nice kids whom all of them loved to toke up and drink.
It was quite a good year.

What's the problem? Stereotypically shouldn't that have ensured a clean room and plenty of hot girls stopping by for fruity cocktails?
Or was he bigger than you and liked to cuddle?
