What is your water source?
I deal with well water in Northern California, and sometimes the mineral(metals) gets really high and causes this problem.
Not to say this is your problem - but just to have you look into it.

thats what actually might be the problem because i live in england and the water here is full of chlorine i still leave the water for 24 hours so it evaporates the water probably isnt to good.
can someone tell me that this is defently got nothing to do with ferts or does it? thanks for the help :)

I would have said Nitrogen deficiency, usually the stem turns a purple colour after some time with lack of N. Looks like nutrient burn as well. I don't think its water related, although its possible, you can get Brita water filters in the UK which you fill up like a jug and use whenever you want, it will filter all the impurities immediately.
