View Full Version : What's messing me up?

Well, over the past couple weeks I have been losing a lot of my mental capabilities. I keep forgetting what I was doing/saying, I can't debate here anymore because I can't collect my thoughts enough, and I have to drop out of my math class now (which is essential to continue my BA) because I've lost my ability to do math.
It started when I got this painkiller called "tramacet" which uses opiates and it had me pretty stoned for a while. Since it was messing me up I I quit after 5 days and went to a chemical called "neurontin" (AKA Gabapentin) which is an anti-epilepsy medication, but it can also be used to make my brain stop firing pain impulses. Since going off the tramacet and starting the neurontin, my mental abilities haven't recovered and I'm still like when I was stoned (not the fun part, just the debilitating part).
Besides the fact I can't do my math anymore, i'm especially sad that I can't debate or discuss in the forums or with my friends worth a shit anymore, considering my communication skills used to be my strongest skill :( . anybody have an idea which one, if any, could have done this?

When I wrote to NORML, the guy told me that I wasn't the first he's heard complain about Neurontin.
I took it for a month, then quit. It's been linked to suicide.
I didn't like Gabatril and another medicine, either (which are, basically, generic Neurontin).

why were you taking those weird drugs ...tramacet??? isn't in PDR
or other inidices. Forget the BA ... try to stay out of psych ward..
DON'T TAKE drugs that indian (sorry) shrinks give you ...
Dr. Patel, M.D. ... they wouldn't take 'em if you put a gun to
their head ... they are here to make MONEY.

If you got the neurontin from a doctor tell him you're concerned about it's side effects. You're probably better off on the tramadol if he wont prescribe any real opioid pain killers.

It sounds like we have a pretty wide concensus on the neurontin, so perhapse I'll cut that out. but since I have a summer before school (at least) perhapse I'll stick to it just through this 90 pill bottle (at 3 a day, so a month's supply).

Tramacet isn't exactly "weired", it's juat a painkiller with opiates and acetamenophen (which I generally try to avoid, though my doctor said few opiate painkillers these days come without acetomenophen).
oh, and I do appreciate your reply but.....
"isn't in PDR or other inidices"............. huh:confused:
"try to stay out of the psych ward"....... was I going there?
"Dr.Patel, M.D.".......... who?

You guys ever hear of the sudden and catastrophic loss of mental sharpness also being a rare but documented side effect of the cholesterol lowering drug Lipitor?
Beachguy that was great.
