i doubt it's ever been asked or talked about, and if it all, it's bound to be thought of rarely... anyways, the question is, does resin go bad? and if so, after how long? i mean i've known people to pick up pipes they haven't smoked/cleaned in years, and get stoned off their ass (long story)... so does it actually go bad?

Yes and no. Would depend whether you are talking about fresher resin(hashish) or bong resin. There would be some differences.
It ultimately would come down to storage conditions. The THC would gradually convert to a different cannabinoid which would still get you stoned, but it would be the kind of stone that sits you back in a chair where you can't move as opposed to fresh, properly cured with lots of THC gives you that buzzy high.
For example, if you allow plants to be growing in less than ten hours light, your beautiful THC converts to give you that sit down and shutup stone. The same thing happens with old hashish.
The stuff in bongs has been burnt and had vertually all of the moisture taken out, therefore mould(fungi) will not tend to grow on it.
So as long as it is stored in a dry place, the only thing to be concerned with, may be insect excrement building up in the cone if left for too long.
There's probably a lot more to it, but you shouldn't ask too much at a time of a stoned person.

Hash and Resin are two different things. Hash is a solid that is formed from the congealed natural oils off the cannabis plant, whereas resin is the material that is left over after smoking marijuana, generally composed of high amounts of tar and different cannibinoids that only form after combustion has occured.

Resin? You mean that shit I soak my pipe in rubbing alcohol to get rid of.
Yeah ive smoked it a few times in the past 13 years but its to much work
to scrap all that gunk out to smoke. The only thing that shits good for is
if you have a chamber bowl and put a bud init to let it collect on the bud.

I will smoke the resin if I am hard up but only if. Usually I just clean the bowl, resin and all. As for resin going bad, im not sure but i don't believe it does, just kinda matures and changes a bit.
