Forgiveness is for God and toward God but not of him. It is impossible to think of anything He created that could need forgiveness. Forgiveness, then, is an illusion, but because of its purpose, which is the Holy Sprit's, it has one difference. Unlike all other illusions it leads away from error and not towards it.
Forgiveness might be called a kind of happy fiction; a way in which the unknowing can bridge the gap between their perception and the truth. They cannot go directly from perception to knowledge because they do not think it is their will to do so. This makes God appear to be an enemy instead of what he really is. And it is just this insane perception that makes them unwilling merely to rise up and return to Him in peace

The illusion lies in forgiveness. Nothing God created will ever need forgiven. For God is perfect, and all he creates is perfect. The Holy Spirit is God's creation chosen to bridge the gap to help us see what is true and what is false.

I don't mean any disrespect, but have you ever actually read the bible? The notion that nothing God created needs to be forgiven is completely abstract. God gave us free will, negating any perfection in sin. If I'm missing the point, correct me please.

brother schenker - acim is correct. I do enjoy studying it.
Lovely Tasha- If something is perfect, it would not need forgiveness. All God's creations are perfect, therefore if forgiveness is needed, it is an illusion. But forgiveness is a good illusion because it teaches the attitude needed to get back to heaven.

Dezire2feel, Not to be hard. please understand that we all have had and still have perceptions that are fundamentally flawed.
Lovelytasha touched on a profound point. God risked Hell for the sake of those that would chose relationship with him. Forget the illusion of some walk of sinless perfection, that is not what the relationship is all about.
He had to give us this powerful choice.
If we had been created to think favorably toward God, automatically, without a choice of doing so,.... the relationship would be meaningless.
God so wants personal relationships with people,
He gave us the autonomy to chose,... profound, profound truth.
Obviously with the ability to chose comes the obvious incidence of error or stupidity, we all suffer from. He's not here to knock us down, but patiently allows us to learn from our mistakes.
We want this for our kids, don't we? to live healthy, happy lives. being able to forgive themselves and others, and sometimes us as parents.
Do our kids screw up?... sure they do.
Did we screw up?.... absolutely
Do we love them any less?... Would you?
Forgiveness:
Jesus spoke often and repeatedly about it. primarily His parables addressed hypocracy and unforgiveness. In fact the primary reason the man forgiven of the hugh debt - went out and jailed an associate that owed him a pitence was due to the fact that he did not receive the forgiveness of his master. So, by default had to continue to collect his debts to still pay the man.
From Matthew 18 (an entire chapter on forgiveness.)
We must receive the forgiveness of God in many ways, or see ourselves jailed , not very much unlike this man, though our bars may not be physical.
The Lord also had much to say about those that believe ~ that they have no need of forgiveness. (leaving the 99 for the one lost; the religious man praying next to the man also praying(beating his chest). Luke 18:13
To walk in the light ~ as he is in the light is to walk in the truth that ~
we all despiritely need him. and his fogiveness.
Remember
~ God removed the fig leaves
~ self covering does not work.
Yes ~ I toke occasionally.
Buzzkill? I donknow,... Hope not.

God does not forgive because God does not condemn
