In males, the condom protects from 2 of the 8 sexually transmitted diseases.
In females, the condom protects from only one.
That one common STD is HIV/AIDS.
I don't know which one the guys are graced with.
Those 7 STD's can be contracted from just genital skin contact and one of them, HPV (not a misspelling...Human Papaloma Virus), can be transmitted from contact anywhere between the middle thigh and bellybutton. Other ones can be transmitted through the mouth or any skin/sweat that comes from the area around the genitals, including the outer labia and scrotum.
My point is this: The condom is only effective as birth control and protection from HIV. Sadly, more than likely you may have an unknown STD and pass it on even with a condom on. I'm thinking condoms aren't that great a thing unless you don't have the ability to pull out or get your girl on the pill.
Why no one knows this: The government actually believes that people will panic with this knowledge...how sad...

The other one must have something to do with the water that passes through the condom.
They've been 100% effective for me!!! I'm pretty sure there are no little Chris' walking around. Oh, wait. One girl was rich, and another was slow, so if they had a baby of mine, I might not hear of it, because those were glove-less experiences.
I shouldn't have said that she was slow.

lol I have no doubt that they're 100% effective at birth control when completely intact, but I think the glove is pointless unless you think you or your partner have AIDS...

Actually, I remember something, like, 98.(?) or 99.(?)% effective for birth-control.

They're 100% if they are completely intact after being put on. Small holes are accountable for any babies conceived from "protected" sex.

In South africa, condoms packs are marked with the SABS seal. The SABS is the South African Beaureu(sp) of Standards. This seal indicates that the condom has passed stringent testing in one or more of the four categories (SAEP):
Safety
Approved Performance
Environmentally Friendly
Packing approved for recycling.
Guess which one our condoms fall under......
Safety? NO! Approved Performance! How did they test the condom for Approved Performance? A mechanical dick?

Where do you get your info from, dude?
"Male latex condoms, when used correctle and consitently, are effective in preventing the sexual transmission of HIV, and the reduce the transmission of other STDs, such as chlamyida, gonrrhea, NGU, bacterial vaginosis, and trichomoniasis, that are also transmitted by muscoal surfaces. Condoms are less effective preventing infections that are caused by skin-to-skin contact such as Sphylis and HPV." (Crooks, Baur "Our Sexuality" 517).
I tend to agree with the authors of a college textbook on the issue of STIs than a dude on cannabis.com

What is the rate of becoming pregnant when using condoms?
"High quality condoms, when used consistently and correctly, provide an excellent barrier against pregnancy. Clinical trials have shown that correct and consistent use of condoms can have between 95% and 98% contraceptive efficacy rate. The success of any form of contraception depends not only on the method, but also the consistency of use." this comes from here http://www.14-condoms.co.uk/condom-resources/condom-faqs.html#What is the rate of becoming pregnant when using condoms
All I know is condoms are great as long as you're not getting the cheap-ass ones from planned parenthood. I heard those things are shit and don't even come lubricated; ouch.
But who knows, people say a lot of things :P

Reduce the transmission, not prevent it alltogether.
When Condom people were being interrogated by congress about the effectiveness of condoms, they said (this is straight from the tapes) "Condoms only prevent HIV in both men and women, all the other STD's may still be transmitted." "Well, then why don't you tell people that?" "Because it will kill young women!" "What do you mean?" "Well, if we tell the public that the condom only prevents ONE STD, they are likely to stop using them and throw away any beneficial effects of having one on."
Don't think I don't know how I got my information, man.

Try thinking about sex in terms of tap water. Unfiltered tap water can be generally safe. However, filtered (like Brita) water, while not always stopping every impurity , is probably safer then tap water...
Does it make sense? It is stupid not to use something that is cheap, effective, highly customizable, and very slightly uncomfortable just because it isn't 100% effective at doing everything. Condoms are probably one of the most important things to get out in the world right now

first of all, condoms just plain suck ther'es no ifs, ands or buts about it, they take all the 'guys' fun out of it, and if we didn't need to get off periodically, there would probably be no need for sex in the first place. second of all, all the ones me and my wife get are lubricated.... o.0 you must be gettin some fucked up info, or whoever you heard from has a cheap ass doctor/clinic.

and very slightly uncomfortable
It's gonna be tough to decide which it leans toward, very or slightly. :smokin:
