well i got mine back 6 years ago before they changed it and made it harder in my state. its so easy though, just remember the 3 or 5 point essay, i so forgot about that crap. but on the math they give u the formulas on the page and all so its not too bad as long as u havent been outta school too long to forget everything u learned....

Holy crap, here I was thinking I was the ONLY person dealing with getting their GED at all, though I'm only 18. I was 2 credits short of actually getting my dimploma and I couldn't do the summer school as it was too espensive, so I'm getting my GED. In my state, I'm required to take 3 tests on Literature, Grammar, and Math before I can even take the practice GED test. I did the three tests today and got all college level scores on the tests, and so next Monday I take the practice test, and the week after that the actual test.
I'm freaking out though, because I don't know much about the GED, never expecting not getting my diploma. Does it hold as much weight as a diploma??

It was EZ for me when i got it...i was 17 and now im in college so its not a bad thing to get

Lol I just noticed it's now June. Far out ~
In Illinois, it's ridiculously easy to get yer GED. You can basically get it in 3 weeks if you only need a few credits, like some of you have mentioned. Some of my friends that dropped out of my old high school all got their GED's way before any of us graduated, and none of these kids were exactly scholars.

I got my GED when I was in the Army, because we had some hard labor type work scheduled that day, and I knew they couldn't deny me the opportunity to bail on the work and go take my GED. That was in Arizona. I scored in the 99th percentile, without studying anything, without even knowing I was going to take it until the minute I decided I to do so.
In retrospect, I wish I hadn't taken it, because I was only 1 credit short of graduating high school, and that 1 credit was all elective. So I could have just read some science fiction and whipped out a few book reports and graduated high school. But when I went to try to finish high school, they turned me down, because they said I already had a GED. Kinda got ripped off on that deal, and had I known that was the way it worked ahead of time I definitely would have avoided getting my GED.
As to how easy it is: I guess that depends on how educated you are. Seemed pretty easy to me, waaaaaay easier than CLEP (College Level Examination Program) tests. Way easier than ACT tests too (if those are still used).

GED and HSE is a fukkin joke
I dont even get why you have to take it....might as well just given it to me right off the bat, it actually made me feel really dumb for taking it and scoring so fukkin high....Stay with High School, dipolma looks better, a fukkin bucket of shit could pass the GED if you taped a pencil to it...

ya i can totally agree with that....i was shocked on how easy it was, you really had to be dumb as nails to fucking fail...with me i could have finished highschool but i would have had to repeat my juinor year. I skipped so much school that i failed 3 classes and had no chance for passing for the year. It was either repeat a year, goto an alternative school, or get my GED. Getting my GED would help me get into college quciker, simply because it was going to be the qucikest to achieve...only 3 months. I was dumb because i was just having so much fun in highschool....surrounded by all my friends, staying out, skiping to smoke...my priorities were all fucked, now in college its so simple when i got my priorities inline.
Just make sure you know what your doing by getting your GED, having you priorities straight:thumbsup:

the math isnt that bad, but you don't have that much time for each question which is what makes it sort of challenging. Its like basic algebra, exponents, geometry, basic operations, sequences, fractions, and square roots. at least thats what i remember.

The only semi-difficult part about it is having to deal with all the bullshit they require you to do before you can even take the test. Just get past that and you're straight.

Got mine while incarcerated back in the early 80's.Never studied 1 minute for it and was the 1st person finished.got an 87 avg.
If you made it as far as 10th grade you should be able to pass without sweating it much.Highest you could get on any of them back then was 100 it wasnt scored like a SAT back then.
