so i found a 400 hps/mh light...it has both? is that a good thing or am i better of buying one of each. does it make a huge difference if they are a combo light?

im reading that they are just duel bulb reflectors. Would having both mh/hps provide for a better yeild/growing experience?

you did well on getting the dual ballast, having both bulbs going at the same time will cancel them out. doing 3 to 1 would work the best , but who can afford that high electric bill. 3 hps to 1 mh is what i was saying. but if you just use your mh for vegging and the hps for flowering your gonna do good.

Your best bet is to buy the dual spectrum hortilux bulbs.

But, if you dont, you want to run HPS to MH in a 2:1 ratio. This is critical during the flowering stage.

HPS emits ZERO UV B light, while MH emits a ton of UV B rays.

It is fact that UV B rays increase THC production. THis is why herbs grown at higher altitudes produce more THC than their genetic counterparts do at sea level.

MH should be the predominate source in veg, then in flower, HPS 2:1 over MH.

Even using several 500W Hortilux lamps, its still so wonderful to blast the lower sections of the plants with MH light during flower. They absolutely love it...and so will your brain.
