View Full Version : When someone you know dies...

Garrett Neer of Washington state died yesterday in a car accident. He was an upper-classman I knew in school, and he got on my nerves most times. It's weird to think of someone that way, and at the same time feel in your heart that the world was a better place with them just being in it. I never really knew him, but I'm really going to miss him.

And so I hear that Garrett's gone, and I feel an unexplainable sense of emptiness and mortality one feels when someone your age, moreso that you know, dies. I have positive views on death, but it still feels like a bullet-burn, in a way. When you hear something like that, it stops the music and the fun and the noise of life for a few seconds and you can hear your "clock" tick.

....then life returns to normal, and the ticking drowns in noise.

R.I.P Garrett

Gonna miss you, buddy

Yeah, I know what you mean. When I was a Sophomore in High School, 4 seniors that were driving back from Spring Break Vacation got into an accident and they all died. It's just awful and puts your life in a different life. Sorry to hear about that man. :(

That's true. It's like being surprised at a thunderstorm when they're happening all over the globe constantly. But hearing about a storm and being near one are two different things, no? That's kinda where I'm coming from.

Not to seem harsh or w/e but when some one bugs the shit out of me or makes half of my life a living hell usually I hope for them to die. If it happened I wouldnt be happy or sad, just relieved :p.

Mmmhmm, a guy in my psychology class - Geraint - died on a night out with friends. He was run over on the Kingsway - a road with about 6 clubs and several pubs on it, which is long and straight, and so boy racers like to tear along it in their wannabe-gangster type cars. It was so weird to hear about it second hand - a friend asked if I'd been to his funeral, and at that point I hadn't even heard he had died. Guess I should have read the newspapers. It felt really bad because I used to chat with him and stuff, but I wasn't exactly friends with him. When I finished school I figured I'd never see from him again because he'd be off in uni doing whatever. And now he doesn't get to do that.
