aight people, i think that everyone has their own way to escape from reality an it iz easily overlooked, or at least it iz wit me. u know tha thinks u do and fer tha few minutes or hours it lasts nothing else matters, something that seems to keep you going, u know.
well fer me its music, today i found a CD i havent listened to in like a year, it used to be my favorite CD an i listened to it every day and every time i smoked pot, basicaly i have a lot of good thoughts and memories associated with this CD. i listened to it and it brought me back to my good days, i had very clear memoriez of all my homiez i would blaze with and a couple who are dead it seemed like i could feel everything that i did back then. then i noticed that music for me iz something i cant explain, something that i feel.
whatz ur escape???

Oh yes!
Music can without a doubt bring back memory's.
But for me it's smells & taste's like the other day I bought A cirtain brand of ciggerette's that I was smoking at a really good point of my life and it brought back all kind's of memories :)

I agree with the music part,
But for me it's different types of things that bring back memories and help me escape, be it smells, pictures, sounds...But the thing for me is that the type of memories that pop up the most is when i was a small boy back in the ton i was born in, for some reason i always seem to remember how innocent and simple life was...These days everything seems so complicated and overthought...

music defiantly here too, but other things also.
Memories make me crestfallen. Nothing lasts in this world.

Nothing lasts, no, but things and people can live on in the minds of others. Thats why memories are the most important things we have.
"How can we know where we're going, if we don't know where we came from"
anyway, im getting off the fecking subject. Music is my main passion. Sometimes, when im not feeling so good, i can spend hours and hours playing my drums.. it releases tension, and on the rare occasion i get angry, it helps to calm me. also, when i see some of the bullshit that goes on around us, i use music to escape. Music is my passion, i love it, but the main way i 'escape from reality' is by writing. if i write a story, i immerce myself in the story, the places and the characters until i forget about everything else. i find writing easier when im high, because i can write characters alot more realisticly, as if im that person for a while.. its wierd and hard to explain, so ima stop lol

You dont always have your mind. Just look at Syd Barret, if you are familiar with him. He was so creative and talented. Such a great musician and artist but he fried his brain on a 2 yeard acid binge. Now he can function and is brain dead.
It makes me sad, he was such a gifted person and it all went down the drain.

Sid barrett, now theres a memory...
Music and also tattoos.
All my tatts remind me of a year or a house I lived in and the crazy times I had.
Nothing t5akes me back like tunes though.

someone whos fried their brain still has memoriez, somone in a coma still has dreams, someone blind, in their mind they can still see.

To be, the most relaxing thing on the world is getting home from work and immersing into my computer... I really, really enjoy spending hours in front of the computer. But it's the whole package... checking the news, posting in a couple of forums, all this while I listen to music and sometimes get some music from iTunes Music Store. I don't know about you but for me, buying music there is a great experience.
I feel my life is going nowhere, but I'm 20, so I guess it doesn't have to go anywhere right now... don't know... I love this life of working, chilling, and smoking... :)

Great thread. Nice one Kronik!
For me it's definitely music too. When I'm cycling to college, on a long car journey or just simply walking, I put on a mad drum 'n' bass CD or chilled trip hop album, close my eyes and let my brain make crazy images to the music. Like a personal, psychedelic music video :D , know what I mean?
I also just like daydreaming. It's almost like meditating for me. If I truly lose myself in thought then I can get some pretty crazy trips from it :D !
Peace.

we are born with music in our hearts.
not being sentimental, but the heartbeat is a natural backing track.
the rythm of the seasons, the chirrping of grasshoppers, the singing of the birds, the gagging of the cats choking on them. :D
ever scince some neanderthal beat one stick on another.
