Ok i have been debating this in my head for some time. Im connecting banks of 8 buckets together and need to figure out drain size. Im thinking 1". Should I just use gromets? or is there a better way.. I have been using 1/2 groments with barbs connectors but im afraid of a leak with just 1" pvc any tips.. extra silicone?

In case anyone finds this looking for an answer, I went ahead and used a 1.5" pool line. Its over flow so that it pumps from the bottom and over flows into the top.. 8 bucks in the room over night not a single leak best part about it is that it fits right in to the 1.5 inch pvc fitting so that its super easy to put together. Ill try to take some pics.

Just in case someone ever in the same spot looking to make a dwc that moves here is a pic of how it ended up.. im just going to use thread this for most of the pictures though.. http://boards.cannabis.com/showthread.php?t=67781
Here is a picture 1.5" overflow and .5" intake. water moves in from the bottom and flows over the top keeping things constant.

Are you going to use a second 5-gallon bucket as your grow pot?

zandor,
well i think i know where your going with this... Im going to use a netpot, But im going to cut the lid and use it to the first ridge if that makes since to elevate it i looked at it and realized it might be a little to high.. but im not to concnerned because it will always be ariated and flowing do you think that the lower 1inch or 2 of the net pot in the water will be a big deal? the water will never flow even a 1/4 inch past the bottom of the drain i tried pouring it in from a 5 gallon and it drains fast.. anyways anyother problems you see let me know or ones that will come up.. by the way zandor i think we come from the same area.
