Hi all,
thought I'd share the first few pics of my second grow...

Strain: Mothers Finest
Started: Around end of April, first planted outdoor on balcony with little direct light.
Indoor Lights: 125W Nuturelight Daylight(6400K) for veg, 125W Nuturelight Warm White(2700K) for Flowering
Note: Second grow. First grow with a specific strain instead of bagseed. The bagseed died on me, likely due to heat issues from the HPS.

May 22nd - Removed the HPS 600W light due to heat/noise considerations and due to the lux being on the low side at plants level(around 11'000). Installed the Nuturelight 125W CFL(gives around 20'000+ Lux at plant level, off scale)

May 23rd - took those buggers inside the growing cabinet under 24/0 and gave them a bit Rhizotonic including full watering

Pics are from May 23rd where I just took them inside under 24/0 with the CFL.

Current Temp readings: 24.8C
Next post with updated pics from today...

May 25th, update with pics from today.
They appear to really like the CFL from what I can tell.

What do you think? Hmm, the preflowers look female or am I dreaming...

Hey carisma, will be great to see someone growing Mothers finest.

I wanted to do that on my last grow but chose Bubblegum instead:)

ello dude they look sweet
buti would get them taken apart befour they start getting big or the roots will get tangled beneath the soil ad they will be hard to separate without damaging them
cheers all :)

Image-Reaper: You're right about the preflowers...sheesh. It turned out they are just a bunch of new leafs after all... lol, seems I was just too desperate. Last time I smoked was in January, so yeah, wouldn't mind them hurrying a bit ;)

busteruk7: I have no intention of actually separating them. I'll be cutting out the male(s) as soon as I see them and will leave only 1 or 2 females even if all of them turn out to be female after all. The third and smallest plant is an error anyway...lol. I tried to germinate 3 seeds, 2 of them sprouted roots and one did not, though I still toss it into the soil. Was strange seeing the thing actually grow.

Will be posting a few more pics either tomorrow or the day after. Will need to install a fan or two that blows a bit at the plants themselfs to tighten up that stem.
The room actually started smelling yesterday, may 25th. Looks like I'll need to install the carbon filter soon, likely within a week or two latest.

Cheers,
Carisma

Here's an update from today, May 28th.

They appear to do fine, though I think they need a little water soon. I'll add some nutes for the first time, something like half the strength of canna vega. Wonder if it'd be ok to still add some Rhizotonic with it?

What do you think? Is it ok to top them tomorrow and put them into flowering the week after? The first 5 bladed leaf is growing rapidly at the moment. I can almost see them growing, heh.

Carisma

Hello all,

here's an update from May, 29th.

I previously intended to top the plants, however since they're growing too dense, I cannot do this without me hurting other parts of if, so I'll just bend them over a bit while the stem is not too stick yet.

I'd like to induce flowering very soon. What do you think about that?
They're about 15cm and have internodes, so I'd expect it to go fine.

A big question however... Since I've got 2 lights, Envirolite 6400K(daylight) and Envirolite 2700K(warm white, lots of red), should I switch the light immediately when going to 12/12 or should I wait a few days(let's say 4-5) until I change the light type?

Unfortunately I can't have both in there at the same time, heat and size restrictions apply.

Thanks for any recommendations.

Cheers,
Carisma

It looks like they could go another 2 maybe 3 weeks before you flower. You really seem to be rushing things a bit, which will lead to a bad harvest.

Carisma

hi berny,

Thanks for your input.
yes I guess they could well go for another month too, though keep in mind that I only have 1 light, nothing more nothing less and the plant will get 2 - 3 times bigger in flowering, so I'll be fine with 10-20g dried worth anyway

That would bridge the next 4 months for the next crop easily.

Carisma

hey sjacobs,

thanks for input. Interestingly, the distance between the nodes has decreased by alot since I took them under the CFL(from the balcony). It's about 1cm and I'm even unable to top it without cutting other leaves. Some of the leaves appear to have only little space to come out there.. maybe I shoult put the light a bit higher, it's about 4 -6cm above the top.

The soil is http://www.ricoter.ch/de/sortiment/Zimmerpflanzenerde.php?navid=38 (german, sorry)

Let's try to translate: PH 6.5, steamed to prevent infestion of fungus gnats with new soil, contains peat, bark compost, lime, base mineral fertilizer and wood fibre

I really think it's pretty stupid to have them in the same pot.. Seriously, if both are female, one will be very small, little potency or worst of all, just die..

One of them will get stronger, and will consume more water and nutrients than the other..

Anyway, wether you chose to separate them or not, they are looking good:)

Carisma

Heya PaRaNoIa,

I guess you're right about that, I know. I had my first grow in several separate pots. Separating is likely impossible by now anyway, I've seen the root of the 3cm plant I took out... it was 15cm! Guess Rhizotonic does help roots a bit. Seriously though, I do not expect both being female, although wishful thinking tells me otherwise.

If they both are, I sure know which one will be let to survive. I like how she looks and seriously the last batch of plants locked alot worse at this stage.

Thing is though, I'm pretty much clueless if I should judge about possible yield. The last one didn't get that far, although female, the temp of the HPS was just too hot(and no, I couldn't have it farther away). The room is 25C and will get hotter when the summer is here. Cooling below intake temperature is not possible for me, so when it's 32C, it's at least 32C there as well.

I'll likely build a better cab for the next grow and will start at a time where intake temperature is no issue at all.(starting end of Sept.)

Ah well, Cheers,
Carisma

Here's an update from June 1st.
They'll go into 36h darkness now to induce flowering.
I kinda have to flower them anyway now, as I get a visit from the appartment boss and they need to aerate the heating, thus requiring me to put the plants away into the shower for the next 36hours..

Anyway, I hope they'll continue their growth quest as up to now and seriously hope, they'll not be recognized by the visitors... sheesh..

They,ve undergone 36hours of darkness starting from June 1st through June 3rd and are on 12/12 for day 2 now.

Both appear to look fine so far.

Newsflash with new pictures...

We're at day 6 of 12/12 and both plants, though in the same pot, look great.
I'm unsure what to say about the third and fourth picture... it looks like it's a calyx with a single white hair emerging, but then again, I could be way off.
I'll probably get to see it better in about 2-3 days.

Cheers all,
Carisma

looking good carisma the plant look real healthy but you are going to have problems with both in same pot bro as soon as you determin sex get them seperated and you will have 2 nice plants there bro .if both are female if one is male then you dont have problems. If one is male cut it down right to the bottom and leave the roots in there they will die off because if you are going to try and separate them for the sake of ridding your self of the male it will be to much trouble. If you have 2 females there then thats a differant matter then you will have to split them into 2 pots because if you dont you are going to have problems in late flower. it wont be 2 hard splitting them just take real care .best of luck my freind you have done real good keep it up .the postman.

Looks like she didn't shave today... Likely confirmed female.

The other plant which is in the same pot will be cut to make sure I get all the lights and nutrients for the female in a day or 2. The smaller one looks male anyhow.

Just transplant the other one.
It might be a girl. You can't tell yet.
Besides males ussually show before the females.

Jdog, I managed to get my micro to the point where I was able to see that the smaller one is a male. It's been cut. It is likely that I couldn't have transplanted it anyhow and it was pretty close to the other plant which is female and I don't like messing with her now. She shall grow untouched :)

Stickyickybudz, I'll update this thread with pics on June 13th again.

Thanks for the replies.

Update from day 17 of flowering.
She's streched from 20cm to 56cm within flowering time... so around 2cm a day... and I still don't have the gnats at bay... gnatrol appears not to work yet...

Any comments appreciated.

Lookin Good Carisma! How much longer are you planning on flowering?

Thanks.

She's on day 19 from 50-70, so about 5-7 weeks still to go, although it highly depends if it's continuing to grow at that rate. If so, I'll have to harvest the top bud early eventually. we'll see, maybe I can tie it down somewhat...
