Hey boys, long time no see, i just have a couple of urgent questions. I am trying to root my tops of plants so i can sex them before moving them outside, i rooted them(well tried) last sat so its it's tenth day and still no signs of roots. I used ph balanced water with blue lightning in it and and a lil ph balancer. I am using rockwool and i have all the cuttings in 2 domes to keepo the moisture up, i applied rooting gel of course but still no signs of root growth on any, the temp stays between 70-75 F. I can get a pic, but im completely clueless as to why there not responding? should i maybe put more gel on? like underneath the hole in rockwool? I also removed one lid on one dome to see if that helps, anyways any help would be freaking great, thxd againer

well try letting them dry out a little in between watering I only water them once a day I use rapid rotters but they are the same concept. I was watering every 6 hours and they took upwards of 20 days went down to 2 and they were at about 10 with 1 I get them rooted in 7 or less. also to much humidity will cause fungas I have 2 1" hole drilled in my dome to allow some air in and open it up twice a day and let new air in.

can i ask you a question? Why did you take cuttings and try to root them,if you don't know whether or not it is a male or female? Just plant the seeds, dawg! Gett'um goin sum! Bout 12 to 18 inches in height.Turn your light back to a 12/12 cycle. In about a week or so they would have shown their sex and you would have been able to have had sum choice cuttings from a female.Possibly could have had a good chance of no males at all! Woo Hoo! That's what I'm talkin' bout!Gurlie Gurls! Uh Huh!

10 days isn't that long to wait for roots. it can take as much as 3 weeks depending on the strain and method used for rooting. a bubble coner will root in 10 days usually but if you just stick the cuts in some soil with rooting gel itcan take much longer. my 2 favorite cloning methods are #1 diy bubble cloner and #2 wick cloner with straight perlite.

and i have had the odd few that have not rooted at all and have died

Humidity,Humidity,Humidity! I can normally get a tray of 32 cutting's,to root in 8 to 10 days. You gotta a bit of over kill on what you use to root.I use 1/4 strength 10-60-10,super bloom. This is a trade secret.put it in a spray bottle and spray the leaves only, don't drench the plant.the rooting hormone can be leached off the stem before it takes root.that's food in the spray bottle.Your feeding them.no need to water them or give any nutes till they get roots.Hope it helped ya!

it is best to not take a cutting from a plant in the flwr cycle. Also, it could save you some time if it does end up being male, as you are vegging the donor plnt.

the tops should root faster than other parts because they have the most auxins

1st off...be more patient!

Read this thread:
http://boards.cannabis.com/showthread.php?t=64187

I just went through this. After I found out how...It was so easy.

here is quick summary:
trim cutting...dip in rooting hormone...put in premade hole in rockwool starter...leaving stem 1/2 inch above bottom of starter.
place in dome with 1/4-1/2" water
close dome add light
open dome 1-2 times daily to let in fresh oxygen
be patient and wait...after 7-10 days start checking...
when you find roots, check all started.
when you have roots growing out of rockwool transplant to medium or system of your choice.
Does this help?

Just be patient. I took a cutting and it looked dead for 2 weeks, but then shot up in no time, and has now overtook my other plants started a few weeks before.

your temps are to cold, you want temps between 80-85 for best rooting conditions.also a heat mat would help.good luck

I find that in a closed box...the cfl keeps the whole thing warm enough if you are using the dome method. lw
