Hey guys.

Me and muh friend were conversing on how we work at a fast food joint as cooks and non of the cooks get tipped. Now, every other place Ive worked that has a dine-in has shared tips throughout the store but in pizzahut I guess its not.

Me and my friend are friends with all the other cooks and are thinking about going on a little strike on a friday night for everyone that works on a friday night to standup and say we arent working tonight or until we get more pay then delivery drivers and waiters that get tips, or that we get tips too.

Do you think this is a wize idea... Its really bullshit I think

Well, I think people usually tip the delivery drivers. They are the ones who had to drive their ass out to the house. And they're usually underpaid because employers see the tip as a compensation for their low wages. (In California, at least, the minimum wage for occupations where tipping is expected-- i.e. pizza delivery man, waiter, etc.-- is MUCH lower than the normal minimum wage. This is simply because they feel that the tips should overcompensate for the difference in hourly wages.)

However, I do think that any tips from pick-up orders should be shared with the chefs, if not given exclusively to the chefs.

after you do this.. tell me how he fires you.

he will find out you started it and fire you...

on the other note.. i do not tip when i pick up pizza... i do not tip when i pick up any food myself ( chinese, japenese, pizza, subway, ect. ).. maybe im just cheap, but thats how it is out here..

other than the fact i live 5 mins from the pizza place.. i may or may not tip them a dollar. ( driver )

Yeah. Actually, it might be a better idea to have EVERYONE that works there do it. The more people that you have, the better. Solidarity is a great option, you'd be surprised at how much can happen. I'd say do it.

if its my regular dude he usually steps in for a Bong Toke and thats all the tip id ever give anyone!

If you dont care if you might lose your jobs, then do what you gotta do, if you wanna keep your job then chill out and accept the fact you get a shitty pay OR find a new fucking job

CASE CLOSED!

Have you tried talking to your boss first? If you go on strike, and I highly doubt you're in a union, you're not protected and they will just fire your ass.

They will fire you idiots... cooks, drivers, and servers are a dime a dozen, and if you won't work for what you agreed as being fair pay then they will fire you and hire sombody that will... it's that simple

Have you checked the Pizza Hut website? Or even better, contacted headquarters?

I know there are various restaurant chains that have rules regarding the "spreading" of the tip total.

I don't know if Pizza Hut abides by it... but talk to your co-workers... IN A NICE WAY, tell them, that if you start making pizza and food as "a second thought"... their customers will not be "that" happy.

I would definitely think that the tips should be spread out. Unless there's somebody that isn't pulling his share to merit it.

But hey man, that strike? Well... ermm.... please let us know how it goes...
