well what you have looks great, but I would definitely add something to that huge white space. Not a lot, but maybe a few more important facts supporting the cause. I mean, layout-wise, it is missing something, and your eye is drawn to that blank space rather than the bottom.
I read this today in class, but if you were to move the main focus of the flyer to the middle, it would look a lot more appealing. So maybe re-arrange so it's in the middle, and add a few more facts, and I'd hire you on the spot for any layout company lol.
good luck.

It is a God given Right. Granted by God to all species and included in the Constitution under Common Law (and one other area as in prior to Common Law, but, don't seem to remember the name right now, until the proper term comes to mind, lets just say natural evolment of our species).

Where'd ya get that number on 2nd hand smoke. I have been looking for the specifics of that scam study for quite a while. If memory serves, when the study came out I remember scoffers quoting values of 2nd hand smoke exposure that were higher than what a smoker would take in. So, I always keep an eye out for that study. Seems I look for it more now that these psuedo death numbers are bantied about and followed by fascist unconstitutional fear reaction laws.
BTW, kudos on your activism. Excellent.

Good idea. I would also make sure that the flier has web links to information pages like MPP/NORML faq pages, maybe www.jackherer.com, hempcar.org, etc. Maybe they'll go home and actually learn something about the issue.

You got me thinking there. Also, you might want to include the numbers of those imprisoned for simply smoking spot and the cost. Us prision system is now 2.2 MILLION strong, 1 out of 136 americans have been jailed. That number is quotable. I believe, there are over 750,000 incarcerated for pot. (That may be all drug incarcerations, but, think it is just pot.)

the only problem is CA doesnt have anything on the ballot.
CA needs to get enough petition signatures for a bllot spot first

One thought from a marketing standpoint.
Move the "Legalize marijuana for adults" part to the bottom and make it a bit smaller. Focus on the point you're trying to get across first. Many people out there see the pot leaf and Legalize this or that and instantly have a negtive opinion based on their prior stance on pot. You don't want those people to not pay attention to the facts they could receive and educate them before they start thinking in a negative manner.
If the examples you provide had web links to the studies, that would be better than links to pro-pot websites. The common person would assume regardless of truth that those were just some fabricated numbers if they're on pro-pot sites. Now if they were links to neutral sites, that could be most convincing. Either way, good luck.

The idea of leagalizing marihuana for any reason (medicinal or recreational) is not the "In Your Face" attitude that will win anyone over.
You have to lure your audience in from a quick glance to 'Interest'. Get rid of the top piece, too much in your face and put it at the bottom like Mingles says. "Facts Not Politics" or some other slogan should be what your selling. Grab their attention to want to read more. When someone sees that leaf... they already know what your after and form an opinion. There's enough people out there with the "Right" opinion... what you want to do is sway the other dolts.
People don't like to lose money or time (don't forget we live in a selfish society) Give them the Facts... and drop the leaf. You don't see the ONDCP, DEA, or other agency touting any pictures of bongs... they show kids... think about that! You want to protect something like they try and throw at the right wing... think about it and see what you can pitch.
How about a single kid with the words... " I lost my Mom because she couldn't get her medicine" for MMJ stance, then go from there.
GL with your flyer...
Just my 2 cents

Professional layout, great messages!
One glitch, though. Distributing the flyer with a Ganja leaf graphic runs the risk of not hitting the people who are indifferent or opposed. It's kind of like the circular reasoning religious folks use with their icons (e.g., the Bible is authoritative to people that believe it, but absurd to those who don't). So, if the hope is to cast a broader net, then the graphic could actually work against you.
Have you considered a graphical concept to convey expanding or protecting freedoms? I don't know, flags, eagles, founding fathers in rebel garb, embedded hemp background... something to signify that the issue is more about our tradition of personal freedom and responsibility, and not as much on a symbol that can turn people off immediately.

I think there is something to the idea of downplaying the image of the leaf so you might want to consider it from a marketing standpoint. How many cigarrette adds have you seen that show just a cigarrette.
Aside from that I think you should consider three versions of the flyer.
One version could be like your current flyer, focusing on how safe cannabis is when compared to other legal drugs.
A second version could focus on the ways in which the drug war is destroying our country, or at least draining our tax dollars. Consider contacting L.E.A.P. (Law Enforcement Against Prohibition) they really have their shit together and since they are all current or former law enforcement officers they carry alot of credability.
A third version could focus on all the ways in which hemp can be used for our benefit. Do a little research and you'll find all kinds of great uses for hemp fibre and hemp seed. Also make sure to note in this version that while it is the same plant we are talking about there is no way for people to get high using commecial grade cannabis grown for hemp.
I know there are alot of ideas here but go ahead and pick your favorites (Im not just talking about my post) and combine them into a great flyer, hopefully you can open some eyes to the facts.
Good luck I hope to see a free Nevada in the future.

I'm thinkin if I add "keep hot heads in jail longer by keeping potheads out
Marijuana is innocent of murder and rape"
above the marijuana leaf area

I am sure if you created some fliers and made the available on this site....someone would post them in nevada before poll time in november.
i think people have to register to vote a month in advance though
