I was checking up on 400watt hps grow light kits and it shows that it will up your electric bill about $20 per month. I was wondering if this should be something to worry about and if so, what would be a good decoy electrical appliance that could make up for the extra $20 a month on the electric bill?, thanks.

Well, i wouldnt no. I run over 1000 watts and dont have any trouble, although it was getting pricey so im selling the 1000 watters and getting 2 250 watt HPS.

the only thing you have to worry about is the heat, summer is here. here is a tool that you can check to see how much it would cost running your lights. hope this helps.

yeah what he said..

heta is the only issue..

a 400watt bulb is nothing..

to make yourself feel better.. become more aware of leaving other appliances on.. like the TV, lower the temp in your fridgerator.. etc...

Little old ladies run up bills with 1 floor heater running all day. Most of them pull 1,500 watts. Anything that is warm or hot to the touch runs your bill up big time. If you have a bunch of power strips running with the stamp down transformers - feel them and you'll feel a lot of electricity running up your bill. I turn off most of my power strips when not in use. Heck, I boil water in a pot off the stove for coffee to save a minutes use of the microwave that pulls 1,100 watts.

The rate you pay to run that may be a lot more depending on where you live. I run 2 - 400 hps, 20 -100 watt (actual pull is 26 watts) CLR. 1 - 175 mercury vapor 1 - 80 watt 4' tube. My bill for running them is about 190.00 a month to run them. Sounds crazy, but I get it all done in 6.5 months with tall mature plants with a lot of yeild (I'm hoping for 3.5 to 4 lbs. when I was a teenager, (yes, we had electricity back then :D ) ... I always had at least one friend that had to go overboard with everything ... he was using old street lights in his garage, running the electric bill way up, so he put up a small sign on the garage that said he was a 'welding shop - closed' ,,, :D ... he was a friend to the electric company, but couldnt grow shit ... :smokin:
