That light will do very little for you. Incandescents waste too much power to heat and don't have a very good spectrum. You should look at compact flourescents at the very least, if not HPS or MH.

I have a 150 watt CFL and a few 75 watt CFL's that im going to pop into my set up area once the pop out the dirt. The lite claims to have a good spectrum for Plants. Im sure this Light isnt that great...lol it was a Few bucks less then CFLs.

How about my soil? I Hear that Miracle grow is bad, but this is organic it should be fine right?

I don't know much about that organic, but it's probably fine since the concern with regular miracle grow soil is the synthetic fertilizers in it.

BigBudDaddy08
05-23-2006, 06:23 PM
Yes they are stretching a little bit and the stems look a little thin .You should pop in those cfls that you have and get a nice fan in there to get some air movement in your area and to stout up those stems .Also the cfls get them as close as possible without burning them or makeing to much heat between the plant and the cfl (To much heat for me is above 84 deg.)

The Lights have always been around 2" above the plant, also added a fan and the lil ladies are wiggling.. I have over 450 watts of CFL,(i may need some cool tubes i know) I do have one question, whats the largest pots i can use for start to finish? once again thank you!
BigBudDaddy08
05-23-2006, 06:53 PM
No problem .I usally start out with a 3 gallon pot from seed and just let her stay in there till harvest(My plant was roughly 4 foot tall by harvest in a 3 gallon pot)
Also your soil do you still have the bag that it came in.If so look all over the bag to see if it has ferts. And if so Garden Knowm said that the trick to Miracle Grow Soil is to water with a PH of 8.0

But it could be a genetic trait too.
If the first round leaves are dying. It needs food.

Keep them moist at this stage. You should keep the soil around 6.1-6.5 ph. Also, keep them moist with the light in their faces. At this stage (the last pics posted) you don't want to nute them yet. I would wait until the second or third set of true leaves. Fox Farm Grow Big 6-4-4 would be a good choice. As you mentioned the local store carries Tiger Bloom, this is the same brand but, for flowering stage. Fox Farm is a trusted product the Grow Big is for this early vegatative state.
Do you know the strain?

Busteruk7 is right.....A fan in nes. This will strengthen the stem for long term benefits. The fan should be small enough to fit in the room and large enough to create a constant air flow.
Keep up the good work!

How can you just ditch a grow?
And go with HID lights. Fluoros don't do much unless you use a shitload of them. Also if you choose flouros put them right in the plants, or as close as you can. It seems most people make the mistake of not doing this, even though that's probably the main reason to buy fluoros.

if the water runs out of the cup before it hydrates the soil your only getting the edge. try submersing your cups in a bowl an wait for the bubbles to stop. once a plant gets to a wilting point one of two things are happening to much or not enough h2o. you should be past any dampening off problems. deep drinks are better for leaching anyway. drain the cups after filling to remove salts an depending on how often you water as to how often you will need to feed
