any pointers 1 week young.. cant tell if its male or female.. let me know what u all think ill keep you posted with new pics, transplanted to a bigger pot.. was it too soon to transplant?

you wont be able to tell i its male or female until flowering time, which foryou is gonna be a while. Good luck on your first grow, im on my second. You learn so much on your first time. Happy growin.

You won't know the sex of your plant until you switch the light schedule.

-For the vegetation period (veg) use no less than 16 hours of light. Some growers prefer 18/6 while others prefer 24/0 - I haven't seen any evidence that either one is better, so I suggest picking whichever one you like. :D

After your plant is about a foot high or so, you have the option to flower or let it keep growing and flower whenever you want.

To change to the flowering schedule, all you need to do is give your plant 12 hours of darkness and 12 hours of light. (12/12)

The excessive dark period releases dormant hormones that cause your plant to flower, so keep the light off at ALL times during your 12 hours of darkness. (no taking pictures or peeking on the ladies :)

After 1-2 weeks your plant will start to show either small calyx's forming, or pollen sacs.

Sacs = Male / Calyx = Female

Some plants show longer to show their sex, so be patient.

CFL's - Compact Fluorescent Lights.

You'd definitely need more than one though :D

They are cheap, low wattage to keep the electricity bill down, and they don't generate much heat.

Be sure to place them as close to your plants as possible!

You will need alot more then 1 period. Also you need to read up and do some research on which CFLs to buy you want Cool white ones or 5000-6500 cfl's they are a blue spectrum. Id recomment that while they are veging.. to save up for an HPS and use the HPS for flowering.

has anyone relied on good ol mother nature for growing for veg state and flowering? cant afford HPS or to build a grow box.. for right now im depending on the sun and what it has to offer. please let me know if anyone has been successful in doing this
