I am in need of an a/c unit and want to keep it inexpensive. i have a 4x4x8 room andwill be running 1000 watts. i had 400 originally and it sucked. my question is how much power will a 7000btu a/c unit draw? thanks

watts = amps x volts

its alot im sure. my portable ac unit uses 1750 watts lol. might return it if i can think of another solution.

p.s. i got a 400w mh/hps why did urs suck? ive seen some great pics of grows with these lights and CFLs. so can u plz say why they sucked?

o damn thats way to much power for my liking :(. the light itself did not suck, it works great, i meant the heat issue i was having sucked. it turned two of my plants hermie and the others were showing severe signs of heat stress ( the leaves were wilting and droopy) i have a piece of tempered glass over my reflector and it was a good 2 feet awayu from the cannopy and still caused the problems. i wanted to do a cool tube set up but i have no where to vent the hot air too. would the cool tubes alone be enough to keep it cool or what do you suggest? thanks

Check the a/c unit's efficiency ratings... that'll give you a good power-consumption figure.
