Lookin good for a first timer. I agree with Mobay you should throw in HPS for flowering. HPS all the way through is fine ( not recommended) but not MHs all they way.. need red spectrum for flowering bro..

I was told that MH would also be fine all the way through. I heard that you could use either. No light is better than the other it is all about preference. Yea my buds might be smaller for usin a MH, but my plant should grow bigger during flowering cycle. Correct me if im wrong.

Im no pro, but from everything I read.. veg plants need blue spectrum. thats MH lights. Flowering needs Red spectrum. thats HPS lights.

But im sure u can use either all the way through, not with as good results as with a hps for flower. also flowering is the most important thing right? Then personally I would want the best light for flowering which is HPS. so logically if i only had one bulb to choose from. I would go with HPS all the way through.

I went with a switchable ballast so i can use MH or HPS.

Im far from an expert... But thats what ive read.

p.s. plants look good though. keep it up. and im hoping for tight nugs for u with MH all way though. will be good test

yea its more of a preference thing. mh all the way is fine. some will argue you need hps. aslong as your plants are healthy and you are happy with them. thats all that counts. good karma your way.

Hello j913jones :)

There looking fine ;)
You started the flowering period in mid April, that is about the same time as my present grow but I count it as four weeks, I think you're counting two weeks from when the flowers first appeared.

Anyway, the MH will produce buds, it provideds light from the blue end of the spectrum which is perfect for veggitive growth and it also produces enough light from the red end of the spectrum to induce flowering. However the HPS (which is weak in the blue light) produces far more red light, and that is what the plants need when flowering.
I use a switchable ballast MH/HPS, and I find this the best option. Some growers will use the MH throughout the entire grow and they seem to do ok with it, I have to say though when I was forced to use the MH for a considerable amount of time on my last grow, the crop size was reduced quite considerably. The quality was still fine though ;) .

However I wouldn't worry about it, the plants look ok and barring any major problems cropping up you will have yourself an harvest of you're own homegrown pretty soon :)

Also on future grows you might want to try an HPS lamp, so you can compare the difference yourself ;)

well explained.. either one is going to produce. But just try HPS and you'll see a slight difference. Good Luck..

How is it goin everyone. Check my pics out. This is my first grow and im proud of it. I am goin to let these babies grow for about a week then I will chop em down. They been goin from seed since March 15 started flowering April 15. Plants are 3ft 7in tall. The biggest bud is about 5 maybe 6 inches long. What I need to know is how to dry and cure them so that they have great potency and a good flavour. Should I manicure the bud before I cure or before I dry. Someone please help me wit this process. Thanks to all the reply it is you guys and gals that made this first grow to be successful as it is. My next one will be even better. One last thing do anyone have any idea of how much this should weigh per plant after it is dried.

Happy Token:rasta:

Here are the rest of the pics of my plants. PLEASE GIVE FEEDBACK.

ANY WILL HELP. IM about to start a new grow what can I maybe do better

next time. The one pic of the bud was dried hung upside down for 2 days

put into a tupperware container and set on a germination station heating mat

for about 3 hours. It did not taste so good, but I only smoked a little and put

the rest back in the tupperware.

did you flush the plants? maybe thats why it did not taste that good, what did it taste like.... fertilizers?

as for manicuring the buds, its really up to you.... i personally like to manicure before drying.... some people find it easier to manicure after drying.... personal preference.... once dry then store in glass jar to cure.. opening it up everyday to allow fresh air and release of old air

If by flushing you mean empty the tank and fill it up with only fresh water then yes. I did it within the last two weeks of flowering. I thought that a proper cure would bring out its taste. I f it doesn't taste so good does this efeect potency.
