i wanted to know if pacing plants in the attic is that big of a deal when the weather is pretty warm in the day and cool not cold at night? what will the temp flux do to the plants? is it really that big of a deal as long as it doesnt get cold up there? also does anyone knwo hwo to get a sample from your buds? i hear people take samples all the time but i am unsure hwo to do this, 12/12 cycle started around the end of april so within the month of june i should be harvesting prob so when can i get a pre taste?
Thanks

Many years ago I tried an attic grow. It was hard because of the heat and it was hard to get up to. I've sampled buds that are in the way of my path and they broke... duh! Whatever you do, don't cut the end of the bud off as that will stunt the growth of the bud and force it to get fatter...
With the temps as a general rule for most strains a constant 75 degrees F. is ususally the best..... I'm sure there are many that like other temp. One of the keys is "constant" try to keep it the same so as not to shock it. Good luck...

The attic is a very nice place to grow, depending on how much room you have. You can grow wonders in there, with the right light the heating should be fine without a cooling hood, slap a fan in there to strengthn the plants stock and stems.
Make sure you do a thural clean up in your attic before you even turn your light on, there is alot of easy things that can catch fire in a blink of an eye when the light is hot.
Goodluck.

I can not imagine plants in an attic without a clear plan for GREAT airflow.. and temp reduction
on an 80 degree day.. my attic goes up over 100 degrees
HUGE temp fluxs can cause condensation... which can cause...
yikes

Yes garden, but as he mentioned it gets cool at night, if its dropping to about 20-30 at night thats still alright, I think with his light and possibly a couple of decent cfm fans and you could probably harness the temp to around 50-60.

gg23 i have been growing in my attic for years .With the temp rising now with summer coming i would advise that you have lights on during the night when it is cooler outside and lights on during the day in winter.the attic is a great place to grow if you are able to get up and down easily enough and are growing soil and not hydro as lugging all that water up there for your res would get tedius beleave me ask mobay he whent back to soil and make sure all wiring is correct and all fire hazards are made safe, always use plastic sheeting or trays under your pots as you dont want water ruining your ceilings, another thing is are you building a box up there or are you just going to grow in a corner. My advice is if your attic is floored grow in the middle of ithe attic as the ventilatoin is easier in the open i have a box for veg in the corner and i flower in the middle of the attic and my veg box temps and ventilatoin can be hard work sometimes but the flowering goes well in the open space.hope this helps you bro.the postman.
I personally would never do it. Spesh with HPS and HID lighting, because the heat will be pouring out and any heli with heat senors will see it.
Next day you'll get a visit, and it wont be for tea and cake.

lip sometimes you just rabbit on .for a start the copper chopper cant see into your loft the can only trace surface heat so if its hot out then they can see nothing and if your lights are on at night they will show no more heat than attic thats been converted to a bed room and they couldnt get a warrent through that evidence alone i live in a high crime area and the copper chopper is over head all the time.Actually once they were chasing car theifs and hovered over my house one night with the infrared heat seek on searching for this dude and my lights were on full and i operate 1x1000watt hps 1x 1000 watt mh 4x 85 watt fluros and 3x 100 watt cfls and nothing this heat seekin shit is a myth people seem to think it can see the heat seeker can see in your property it doesnt it can only see surface heat and if your attic is insulated it will se shit .I think you are relying on the time your little brother got caught with the chopper copper on tv.the postman.

i have been growing my plants in the attic from day 1 and all this talk about the po po is crazy. the good thing about growing up there is that the smell goes out the top of the roof, not venting out the 1 st floor window where is traffic outside. if heat is the problem growing in the attic , have the lights come on at night when its cooler up there simple as that. one of the ways that the po po will circle over your house is if they get a tip from someone that , you have told that your growing in your attic. so dont tell anyone you know about your growing. dont go out and paint hemp signs on the side of your house, thats a dead give away. growing in the attic is much safer with visitors stopping by. if your that para get a police scanner.

i remember the time when the po po came to the postmans house, they came and got him in the winter time and it was snowing out. now you have seen his grow and he is useing a 1000w hps in his attic. now his house is the only house without snow on the rooftop and the po po came into his house , smelled nothing , seen nothing. so this is the point that iam making about growing in the attic.

yah well i already have my plants in the 12/12 cycle and this sin only because i had to make a move and had no where else to put it, i wanted to reap my rewards and not put it back in soil outside cause then i'm waiting months, so i figured the attic is best for now, the lights on at night is a godo idea but then again i'm already in the 12/12 for the day and if i do this then the schedule is messed up. Thanks for thr advice guys, just hoping that it doesn't take that much longer for the final product.
Only thing i didn't see answered is how i can get a sample and when i should even try and sample it. don't i have to wait for the tricomes to develope and mature?

You could always suck air from the lower part of your house to regulate attic temps too, works well....

yeah but that would involve cutting holes and adding fans ect, i just wanted to make sure that it won't affect the plants that much for another month or so!
Thanks

like zandor said that keeping the lights off during a cycle wont hurt the plants at all. so just keep the lights off until 7pm tonight and have them come on and go off at 7 am.
Sorry, I already have holes to my attic, 15 feet of 4" dryer hose and a table-hockey fan to push, works like a charm, sunny and 68 even when the attic temps hit 120f. (in my 3x4x4 veg box)
