My first, and one of few live performances was on Friday 13th August 2004. A really shit night to be honest.
It was one of the hottest days, and I have very little heat tolerance. Nobody except the other bands turned up.
Considering I have Asperger's, when I was on that stage behind my Prophet-5 you couldn't get me away. I just played for hours through everyone's soundcheck.
My synth killed it. The glide you can get when you stack all the voices is incredible. I hit the lowest key, turned the glide, and held the highest key. Once it glided up all the way to that note, I turned all the frequencies way up, and laughed as the death metal/hardcore/whatever band looked really uncomfortable.
The synth just didn't want to stay in tune though, so I hit the A440 button and thats when it all went wrong. The microphones picked up on it, and before I knew it there was insane feedback. The drummer from the other band begged me to turn the synth off, but it was already too late. In the end he managed to get to the mixing table and shut the mics off.
So my mate (the guitarist) comes back, and as a joke we set the microphones so high they almost touched the ceiling (because the lead singer of the other band was tall we took the piss)
The singer comes, laughs his head off, walks past my synth, hits the low E, and he shat himself. :D
When it was time to play though, the fun stopped. We couldn't get the monitors to work, so we couldn't hear eachother on stage. His guitar was way too loud, and instead of turning his volume down, I turned mine higher.
As we performed the first song, I came in with my synth riff, sounded perfect. When his guitar came in, I couldn't hear a thing, panicked, and started messing up. I've never hit so many wrong notes in such a short amount of time, lost my timing completely, and put me off for the remaining 3 songs.

our first gig was rediculous. We did terrible, but by comparison, we owned that place. The other bands were drooling over us, it was funny.

lol that reminds me of a battle of the bands we once entered.. we came second but only cuz the band that won was from the local school and had like 3 classrooms worth of ppl that knew them with them, and they only bet us by like 10-15 votes lol..... we was robbed i tell ya :cursing:
My first gig with my band was pretty good tbh. Everyone moshed and loved it, but we'd been together for a year so we was pretty good by the time we started gigging.

hahaha i played at a talent show with some of my buddies, i play bass guitar. we didnt have a singer until the night before and we were playing one from metallica and he was screaming it like it was a death metal song it was horrible, but everyone else played it perfect. so all in all it was a nerve racking experience but really fun. oh by the way everyone was screaming metallica at the end of the show but since it was up to the teachers to pick the winner a f*ckin punk band that played the same power chords over and over won. no justice in this world

my first gig was aTalent Show in high school. I played in a band that did covers of AC/DC songs without vocals. The teacher in charge HATED us. We were the most popular act tho. It sounded like shit, I'm sure, I was playing bass through a Fender Princeton Reverb(yeah, I know ). But our guitar player was killer. During pratice, we turned down, like the teacher wanted, but night of the show? "Does this thing go to 11?" heh.

lol I hate it when you get no stage monitors. they are a must
I want to get the in ear monitors for my band sometime
My fist gig was at a local teen center and there was a local tv station there recording it. we got to watch the gig 2 weeks later and it turned out good. however I have had bad gigs due to bad monitors. talk about embarassing lol

The band I'm playing in now have them and I can hear myself like I want to for the first time in 25 years on stage. It's revolutionary.

Mine was FREE!!!
I've never went up onstage with a pre-set band and no one has heard me play in the past six years, except Rastabill89.

Being a punk band in a real shitty town is pretty hard.Needless to say I pissed off alot of people and it was the most unrelenting crowd on earth. But boy was it fun.

My bands first gig was pretty bad. May 5,2006 (cinco de mayo). We kept messing up and tripping over ourselves mistakes.
and in one song the drummer got confused and just stoped playing. and we all turned around and looked at him and he freaked out and just started hitting the bass drum and than started tapping on bells of the cymbols (kind of like in ramble on - zeppelin bonham)
and than like exploded into a beat and it was completely improve and never heard before in any practice and sounded alright. and than the singer was offtime
but our last song Moby Dick nailed it. not a single flaw my guitarist nailed the solos. and drummer did awesome drum solo and the drum rolls at the ending riffs.
people liked it but we thought it was shit.
the band after it just ruined the entire vibb of the show though. came in and just started banging on the guitarist screamo shit.
