Hey.quick question....how long do you guys usually let your plants vegg for? I know it's totally up to the grower to decide when they want to start flowering, but i just want to get a feel from some experienced people out there.

In theory....i i were to start flowering after my babies were only 2 inches high...would they still flower? maybe enough to get a joint or something? I"m not doing that...but its just theoretical..

Firstly it is totally up to you, if you have 3 feet vertical room, dont veg past 20 inches. more room you say? flower at any size you wish, the plants AT LEAST double in size(usually more than double) during flower, mostly 2-3 sometimes 4 weeks should be more than enough vegging(depending on everything you do/give), 5-6 weeks veg you could end up with a 6 footer, I myself wait till 15 inches, (since I bend them over cause I have less than 2.5ft vertical space but again, its completely up to you and really depends on all the other variables. It takes soooo long to flower(7-10+ weeks), 3 weeks veg should give you plenty of plant to finish with.
Just go by size, not time; thats good advice...

and the plants probably would not flower at two inches, they have to get to a certain point in maturity before they can flower. But again, different strains can do WILD things.

Thanks 4x5. I'm currently at 7 1/2 inches...i really wanted to wait until it reached a foot before i set mine to flower. But i'm already at 35 days in vegg state....mind you, this is my first grow, and i'm sure i did things a little wrong....but you live and learn. I"m looking to flower in 2 more weeks. The suspense is killing me. ..lol.

they look good, the growth rate may just be from your lighting. Yeah, when they hit a foot, 12/12 all the way....

Your plants look great.. congratulations

be careful you are shoowing signs of over fertilization.. look at the tips of your leaves.. they are starting to burm..

What kind of light are you using?

The number of nodes plays a big role when deciding to flower a plant..

Your plants can definitley be flowered right NOW.. especially if y ou are using CFL lighting...

Thanks Garden Knowm.....currently i have a 250 watt MH about 10 inches away from the top, and I have a75 watt cfl right next to the base of the stems to see if that will give more light to the bottom of my babies. As for the over ferts....i will heed your warning and not give them nutes this feeding which is today actually. Since i moved them into the new 1 gallon pots about a week ago, I've only been having to water them like every 6 days....and i was giving them nutes every time.....i guess i will change that to every other time. I really appreciate all your guys help. This forum is amazing. Soooooooooooooooo much information. I dont know how someone "couldn't" grow if you just read a little.

It all depends on the strain I am growing. Some are a waste of time at <1 foot unless you top it a couple of times. I tend to grow a bushy plant 20" from the top of the soil before flowering. Alot of people rush to flower in order to have some smoke, but I would not even bother with a set-up for such a small amount of finished product.

I let mine range from 18"-24". Keeps them manageable in the area I've got (height) and their not crowded so there's plenty of light to go around.

Have a good one!
