My friend also wants one, but the dickhead only cares about one thing. SPEED!

So now I need to find the fastest one possible. He wants THIS. (http://www.storacingproducts.com/cgi-bin/trolleyed_public.cgi?action=showprod_31811)

He can't race me in Gran Turismo, he's had 3 collisions in real life on his driving lessons, and when I let him loose with my severely underpowered RC truck, he couldn't turn it round without hitting everything in the way.

I think my mate is gonna have a nasty accident and write it off on the first day. Am I right?

haha, so many kids buy things like that, then they slam it into a curb 4-5 times and they are done with it. ususally because it breaks, snaps plastic, loose lug nuts, etc. and then it just sits in the closet because its not like it was their money any way.. if you get something like that, dont just assemble it, plop it on the ground and go full speed. if you do this, your car will break.

and chisme, heres a suggestion, start small. start with an Electric 1/18th, then work up to electric 1/10, and see what you like, i am having the most fun i have ever had racing R/c cars while racing my Team Losi Mini-T 1/18th scale. i took my mini-t to a baseball park, tore it the fuck up, vhalf the people at the park all migrated to the other side of the park because of the gigantic orange dust bowl. and mind you, this was with a little R/c car thats only like 1 ft my 1 ft

ive got one of those mini-t`s, i put a new motor in it, crap load of reinforcment parts where they are needed some Chrome plastic rims, and soem big ole tires, i ve never had so mutch fun drivivng any other R/C, this thing just purrrrrrs, it can do about 45-50mph, i raced a 4wd nitro truck that can do 70 mph top speed, and it got owned. my car maybe cant hit 70mph, but it can hit 45 mph before the truck has hit 45mph, so it just get right on up and passes it, and when their big old nitro car they spent 800$ on get smoked by this little 1ft long thing, they are overwhelmed with the need to want to go spend 100$ to get more parts, lol.

Exactly. it's his money. GOD MY FRIENDS ARE SO FUCKING STUPID!!! WHY DO THEY ALWAYS COME TO ME FOR THE ANSWER?????? I really have more important things to do, like get stoned!!!!

if you get something like that, dont just assemble it, plop it on the ground and go full speed. if you do this, your car will break.

Along the lines of what I already told him. In fact I said I should drive it first, as I really don't trust him.

Man his driving is disgusting. He's the only one to come to my house brave enough to challenge me to a GT3 race. I actually have to stop and wait on almost every corner for him to catch up. The replay always shows what he does wrong. First mistake is pressing the throttle. Slams it hard, brakes harder, and whacks the steering fully to turn. He's failed his real driving test several times, and has admitted to crashing while on lessons, which isn't a surprise at all. When we swap that DualShock 2 PS2 controller for a RC controller, I don't predict any difference. :D

And he wants a RC helicopter or a plane to go with it. Every time I give him a demonstration on Flight Simulator, all I get is "that looks boring, I'd understand if you can shoot stuff, but..." and "I don't understand how you can sit there for hours" He doesn't know fuck all about the basics of flight, and if he buys a plane big enough he will lose control of it straight away and possibly kill someone!

Sorry about hijacking your thread Chisme, but this bloke I know is a fool. If an examiner passes him, I'll slap the examiner, and his mother! :D

lol, this kid sounds like a real winner, haha, and just to let you guys know, real R/C cars arent all over 300$, in fact, you would be surprised. sure, maybe R/C cars you pick up from the toy store might not go 50 mph, and they might not be proportional, but they are the best learning experience any one could ever get in the world of R/C, I am 14 years old now, i got into R/C when i was about 6 years old... i went down to Toys R Us. and like the little shit disturber i was, i go straight to the R/C car section and start tearing them all out of the boxes right there in the store. just because i had to find the right one, lo and behold, i did, 45$ (practically my life savings at that time, lol) and i bought a "NIKKO IRON EAGLE" and a BIG ass R/c it was, it was plastic, but still quite hefty, not to mention it had 4 WHELL DRIVE! and it was proportional, basically the SAME as any 300$ one, just that you can put any upgrades on it, unless your a pretty clever fella like myself, because before the day was over, it was on dads tool bench in 5 million peices cause i wanted to see how it works. and i did, put it back together about a year later, and i still pull it out on occasion to do some driving in the garden, or to go down to the park and tear up the feild in the middle of a baseball team. witch i have done before, and it usually ends up with all the coaches yelling at me, and all the kids on the actual team, asking me if they can drive it first. lol. so, the point of this long story, the BEST money can buy is not always the MOST expensive. and also, driving alone is no fun either.

and synth, as for your freind, he just needs to do some learning, some research, have patients with him, and maybe you and him can buy matchin cars?

Cooler Then Jesus
05-13-2006, 05:44 PM
also, you will son find out, the cars arent actually "petrol" or gasoline, they actually take their own concotion of fuel, witch gets VERY pricey, mutch more pricey then regular gas, and if you switch gas brands or mixtures, then your car will fuck up. not to mention that the fuel actually cost MORE than actual gasoline.

I have lost patience completely. I've been telling him for the past 4 years that such aggressive use of the controls will get him nowhere. I was very much like that when I started, but I picked up on my mistakes and rectified them. It is as if he wants to drive shit.

And I'm not really into cars, if and when I get enough money for a decent RC vehicle, it will either be a helicopter or one of those cool Tamiya trucks, but shit the price tag on them things........

I took my friend to a specialist shop. They had everything he needed. There was plenty of fuel, all reasonably priced. There was even people on hand to give expert advice.

He's seen that car can go 75mph, and without reading the rest of the specifications says "I don't care - I'm having it"

In the end, I had to email them asking a very stupid question (fastest car in stock). I felt silly asking and knew I wouldn't get a response.

If he can't control a small toy RC car, one that runs on 4 AA batteries, has the most responsive handling, and reasonable speed, without crashing into everything in the way, how the fuck is he supposed to control a 1/10 scale or even 1/8 scale high speed fuel car, with brakes and gears to worry about?

I'd rather take his money and persuade him to smoke weed with me, than watch him drive it straight into a wall and wreck it. But this is the highly intelligent bloke who says weed is banned for a reason.

All my friends piss me off equally.

slow and steady wins the race. like i said, my mini-t does 50mph, and a nitro does like 70-80, but i still owned it. show him that turning isnt all one control. there ir "proportions" in the speed an turning, to turn the wheel just as mutch as you think it needs. same with the speed, its not just on/off speed, there is over 400 steps of speed for most r/c cars. slowly pull the trigger to find your speed. and if you cant hit full speed in an area, DONT GUN IT, its not worth it. i should write some books on my hobbies.

EDIT: maybe i shoulden`t.

not to mention the R/C nitro sound of death. lol. you stick the glow plug in, or you pull the starter, or however your starting system works. and then you hear "click click click click" occasionaly followed by a "pop, fizzle, sizzzzle" fryed. electrics are way more fun =)

I should write some books on my hobbies! :D I've already told him everything I know, and it just hasn't worked, because he refuses to put it into action. I have even demonstrated.

It might sound like I'm talking about a 10 year kid, but this bloke is almost 21 and I've known hom for almost 12 years!

If anyone here knows Gran Turismo 3, the Escudo, and the Test Course track, that is our typical race. No corners so he likes that! :D Except when we take that turn at 450km/h, he flicks the steering all the way, and hits the wall (because he turned so sharply into it) rebounds and hits the wall at the opposite end, while I maintain a nice smooth turn!

Just refuses to race me on the Complex String. Probably because of the time he had an F1 car, and I had a Mini Cooper and still won. :D

In fact he causes me to mess up. I brake for a corner, he slams into my rear at crazy speeds and then says I hit him. Give us real RC cars and both will be destroyed due to his driving!

Man I gotta take myself to Japan and race someone who can actually give me a challenge.

whats your other car like? i used to drive 1/64th scale R/c cars, they were about 2 inches or so long. custom paint, suspension, tires, rims motor, resistors, boards, etc.

My first gas powered one is a Kyosho Ford Mondeo BTCC version 1/10 scale bought in 1995. It doesn't get used anymore and needs parts replacing to work.

I spent like 200 hundred on crap for a little Nissan Skyline GTR. I stopped right before getting into lithium ion conversion kits.

Waste of money, really. Fast little fuckers, though.

LOSI is the best....

do not get a nitro car unless you are very mechanical.

Electric is the way to go..... My electric car with a modified motor kicks ass.

and it allways starts.........

cant say that for nitro............ My little bro worked at a hobby shop for years we used to race those things..... wed and sat nights
