A New Low for Higher Education

It is graduation time and all over the country colleges are lining up influential speakers to bid their graduates adieu. The liberal folks have been very busy fielding invitations. Senator Clinton will speak at Adelphi University, Senator Schumer at Buffalo State University, Senator Boxer at Mills College and far-left actor Mike Farrell at Utica College.

So far as I know, few are objecting to those people imparting their wisdom to the students.

But a funny thing happened on the way to academic freedom. Some liberal college people don't want it. If you veer away from liberal orthodoxy, you are not welcomed at commencement.

The most egregious example of this is happening at The New School, a college in New York City. Former Democrat Senator Bob Kerrey, the President of the New School, is under fire for inviting Senator John McCain to speak at its graduation.

A bunch of students and faculty members are demanding that McCain's invitation be rescinded. In an open letter the dissenters said: "Senator McCain's voting record and public pronouncements are starkly at odds with the progressive social values for which this university once stood, and which we want to see upheld."

In other words, if you are not a progressive liberal, get the deuce away from the New School.

Now how loopy is this? Senator McCain has served his country heroically as most sane people know. He is certainly no bomb throwing conservative. He is a patriot who may be the next President of the United States. But for some at the New School, he is not worthy to address them. Isn't tolerance supposed to be a liberal tenet?

About 200 miles to the north, some loons at Boston College are doing the same thing to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. Historically, BC is not known as a far-left place, yet more than 150 Boston College faculty members have signed a letter objecting to awarding Secretary Rice an honorary degree at graduation.

The prevailing wisdom among these pedagogues is that Rice is a warmonger. When one BC professor put that forth on my TV program, I told him it was a shame three thousand Americans would not be able to attend the college's graduation this year because they are dead. The man stumbled for words.

Isn't it interesting how close many far-left individuals come to embracing fascism? The hallmark of totalitarian right-wing regimes is to stifle all opposing points-of-view. No dissent is permitted.

But the far-left is the same way, and all their talk of diversity and freedom of expression is just so much BS at BC. Stifling opposing points-of-view at any American college is simply unacceptable.

For the record, both Condoleezza Rice and John McCain are great Americans who are trying to make their country a better, safer place. You may disagree with their policies and opinions but their dedication is unassailable.

The fanatics at Boston College and the New School have embarrassed their institutions. Ignorance is not supposed to be part of the University experience. Those schools and many others surely need to wise up.

Democrats can only win elections if their voters are morons, Take a look at what they are trying to do in California and Florida, apparantly the Graduation test for those 2 states are "discriminating against the Poor/Minorities, so the Graduation Test in California was deemed Unconstitutional by a Judge. Way to Dumb Down your Voters Democrats

^i'm pretty sure it's the republicans who have instilled our education program and that we have a republican congrees/governor in FL (a Douche bag by the way, he has a brother too,if you didn't notice). It's not the dems making their voters dumb. It's the lack of education the Republicans have faught so greatly to puch through congress.

and if the school doesn't think that the moron coming to speal shouldn't... then they shouldn't. Everyone knows it's a stupid political ploy and nothing more.... I wouldn't want a war criminal coming to my graduation and I'm sure they feel the same. Just because people don't want the support a Dictator doesn't mean they must go along with what his party is saying.

Liberals are the best and only party who have an Idea of what is going on and what should happen to this country. I'm not sure if you've noticed but there are no Liberals in office... we are controlled by to parties that have expressed to a great degree that both do not believe in Liberty. Maybe instead of attacking the Liberals you should figure out what a Liberal is and stop listening to Bill Oriely about who to hate this week...

here a 5 second test you can use to actually figure out what a Liberal is and why the people you blindly give fatih to don't supprort it.

If you knew anything about being a Consevrative you'd understand that Bush is not one... I mean hell look at the word... 9 trillion in debt does not mean conserve... you all are just blindly folloeing Bush and getting the motivation from Bill... what happens when he goes off the air? That's all I wanna know, who's gonna make up your mind when you have no one to tell you what to think??

"To know what you prefer instead of humbly saying Amen to what the world tells you you ought to prefer, is to have kept your soul alive. "

- Robert Louis Stevenson (1850 - 1895)

Just wait... he's at the point he was before Bush blew up the WTC and tookl control of the media... it's all coming to an end, that is till we blow up another building a scare america out of it's rational thinking again...

O'REILLY: "The Factor's" total cumulative, 24 hours, about four million viewers a night, not counting the Direct TV people and the college people. That makes us very competitive with the late night network shows and the net morning programs. We also are creeping up on "The CBS Evening News".

And now the truth, for February of 2006 the O'Reilly Factor averaged a 1.9 rating with 2.3 million total viewers a night. And the Factor ratings have dropped from a 2.5 rating in October of 2005 to a 1.9 rating for February of 2006. Out of that 2.3 million only 400,000 are in the 25 to 54 demo, and the average Factor viewer is 68 years old, so I doubt very many college people are watching the Factor.

www.oreilly-sucks.com/politics/cablenewsratings.htm

The Factor is not creeping up on CBS or anyone, because the Factor ratings are dropping, and have been since October of 2005, not to mention The CBS evening News averages 8 million viewers a night, which is not even close to 2.3 million or 4 million. In a December 2004 interview with Ashleigh Banfield O'Reilly claimed he was getting 6 million viewers a night, now he claims it is 4 million, so if (according to O'Reilly) his total viewers dropped by 2 million in a year, how is that creeping up on CBS News?

BANFIELD: Well, the word is that there are going to be changes maybe at CBS anyway. We don't know what's going on. There's a -- there's a real upheaval, it seems, in cable news right -- or, excuse me, in broadcast news right now. And why is that? Because people like you are getting two million viewers a night, and you're making a lot of money doing it which makes stars.

O'REILLY: Let me break this to you. I get -- I get six million viewers a night, which they'll never admit, but that's the way it is.

ya it really sucks...that is why I'm so pissed... i get it twice as bad... it went from the greatest state to the worst really fast. I've met Jeb before and he's a douche in person as well...

I think that is why I'm so pissed and probably why I don't give enough credit to people from outside this state. Cause I see his propaganda and bullshit all the time. Every election we have isn't fair and it rigged for the Republicans... we've been so gerrymandered that it's a joke... I'm just trying to stop it from spreading around the US, cause they already stole Florida...

watch the movie... you'll see it was rigged... We had a winner announced before the polls even closed...

umm.. the seniors are the ones that watch Billy Boy on tv... they are the backbone of the republican party and why florida went that way.

I must say it is kinda sad that you don't know who the backbone of your party is... I hate all the old people here, they don't know how to vote and only do so cause they are forced to by the Republicans... you really think Florida and California are conservative? the only way they could have won them, and Ohio, was to rig the election and they are doing it again this year.... just wait to se how many ballots this year will have gay adoption on it. See how much the republicans do with it after the election... the same thing in 04' when gay marrage was on the ballot... the only reason the seniors went out and voted.

but when did that gay marrage ban go into place?? that was two years ago... why can you all not see how Rove and the Republicans are controlling you.
