So I've only started getting this problem in the last year or so and its really embarrassing.
I cant stop blushing - it just happened there when I had to ask my manager for a day off, I could feel my face going bright red and she was looking at me like 'wtf?'
It happens when the new sales director guy talks to me, it happens when I'm having arguments, it happens at interviews, it happens all the time and I dont know how to stop it! Anyone else have this problem or know how I could overcome it? I hate the feeling of my face going really hot :(

Hey, Sensi! That really is a sort of involuntary reaction that there's probably not too much control over. My husband, whose medical specialty has to do with circulation and cardiology, says sometimes certain medicines, nutritional supplements or even grass can have a vasodilating effect, which would make blushing/flushing worse. Do you notice it more after any meds, vitamins or a smoke?

No and I'm always sober when it happens too. Its just annoying that other people can see it, and its not just like little rosy cheeks which would save me buying blusher, its like full facial betrootness :(
I'm doomed! Ah well, maybe it will disappear with age...........just wish there was something I could do to stop it.

I expect it's very pretty, and I know lots of gentlemen who think girls who blush are charming. Makes them think we're modest and shy and have roses in our cheeks . . . .

It could just be nerves sensi, Like you say when your asking for a day off things like that
The flushing response can mean a lot of things from exitement(if accompanied by pupil diliation) to fear, yeh I know extrem ends of the spectrum.
A fear of blushing can make you blush more often as you more conscious your gonna blush so you make it happen....If ya get me.
Try taking a few deep breaths and trying not to worry about blushing and it might stop, eh I know its as involuntary as smiling.
Jus trying to help

Drink more water
relax and don't feel guilty about anything
It looks like it only happens when you speak to persons of authority.
Just know when you talk to them that you are as smart or smarter than them and that should help you relax.

I always blushed when younger, and even into adulthood, like mid twenties. For me, it alot to do with being self-conscious. It wasn't until I didn't care about making impressions that I quit blushing, so maybe it would help you if you developed a similar attitude. One where you don't care what people think.
It worked for me. ;)

Sensi,
Your blushing may be brought on by socially stressful situations such as showing up late to an important meeting, a nice looking guy complimenting your pretty smile or accidentally saying the "f" word in front of your grandmother...
I would try a small dose of Xanax (0.25mg) about 20 minutes before you know that you are going to do something that might make you anxious.
Take a chill pill...;)

I've got the same problem. I've been to psychiatrists/shrinks/whatnot and done CBT (cognitive-behavioral therapy), tried antidepressants, tried just about everything.
As that link shows, it is called idiopathic cranio-facial erythema, and the only way to truly eliminate the blushing (as far as I am aware) is through surgery.
The surgery is called ETS (endoscopic transthoracic sympathectomy)-- basically they stick a tube (with a little camera on the end of it) in your armpit and cut your T2 ganglia, a part of the sympathetic nervous system. Pretty hardcore but a lot of people have come to that as a solution.
People who suffer from blushing often suffer from hyperhidrosis as well. This is excessive sweating of the hands, face, feet, armpits, or any other part of the body. ETS also cures hyperhidrosis.
If you're like me, you just have to bear with it. Trust me, it's even worse being a boy and blushing than being a girl and blushing. Hope my post shed some light on facial blushing for you.

lol wow sensi you and I might have the same exact problem, like to the T~
My charming face will constantly change between a flush red and a normal color. One minute I'm normal then I just randomly blush. I usually blush when I'm talking to someone, anyone male or female, and it usually happens. Now I'll admit an attractive woman does it to me more times than not, but now it almost seems I have absolutely no control over it. I have honestly given up trying to "do" anything about it and just accept it as me so I can move on with life.
I've found to just not think about others and what they're all thinking, because most of the time it's negative anyway and no one needs that!

It probably has less to do with 'confidence' levels, and much more to do with living up to what you have accepted to be, what you 'think' you 'should' be, to others.
Attractive people are often overly worried about living up to the standards they place opon 'themselves'.

yo sensi, used to have similar problems, very self conscious and always blushing when talking to people or strangers
then one day I asked myself do I ever remember anyone I talk to like 5 minutes afterwards. In the sense that even if that person was hideously ugly or amazingly attractive, do I really remember them from a small casual conversation that lasts 10 seconds. I thought about it and realized that I don't, and that most people probably don't remember me or analyze me as hard as I did.
After that ephiphany I just stopped caring about how I looked or what I said to people that much. Atleast, to the degree where I didn't blush or spend 10 minutes fixing my hair or checking myself out in the mirror. Anyway, I got over that real quick and it worked for me. Hope it helps.

Hot flushes? Its the menapause, run! aaaaaaah.
Only jokin, Working on your natural confidence should sort it.
I've become far more confident recently and my life is getting better and better because of it.
I know exactly what you mean. You always are worried about what other people think about you and stuff. I used to blush all the time. And then people are like "OMG he's redder than a tomato" and stuff like that which always makes it worse. I don't blush as much as i used to but i still blush every now and then. And yes i know it totally sucks.
I get really bad sweats :(

you should dress up like a hooker and stand on a local street corner. looking like that around people you are familiar with should make you more comfortable around people you don't know [/sarcasm]
the xanax idea might be decent, and they are fairly easy to get. ask the person you get your smoke from and see if they can hook you up. small ones shouldnt cost more then a couple bucks a pill, less if you buy in quantity. for a while i could get them $.30 each but i had to buy a hell of a lot of them

Damn, it works for me, my second day of work I went in with a buzz, and I fond me a dealer that day, someone I can party with, and at least one out of the 3 co workers to try and get with :D . Meh, you'll find what works, hey, maybe your thing is meditating and jazz fingers.

Lol, I ran across this thread at random. The same thing happens to me, especially in situations where people have to rely on me for answers, etc. I start wondering what they might be thinking, then start blushing, then start worrying about the blushing, start wondering what they think about the blushing, maybe they think I'm BSing so I start to blush more... You get the idea. :)
Luckily people just expect it from me now and poke fun at it (nicely.) And since they don't care about it (and thus, neither do I), it no longer happens when I'm talking to them. When I meet someone for the first time the cycle starts over though. :(

Flushing is good... flushing is healthy...
ermmm... I mean, blushing... sorry, got the growing terms confused.
But yeah, blushing is a sign of healthyness.
Anyways, have you ever seen a woman smack-in-the-middle of an orgasm?
That's like full face, full chest, both-hands blushing. Big time.
So Sensi, by blushing in front of other people (specially males), you can be sure that you're triggering subconcious, hard-wired effects on their brains... sexy effects... which will make them feel good... thus make you get what you want...
BTW: Did you get the day off or what?
