Don't do it, Mike!!! Turn away from crime!!

Just kidding. I'm assuming you're not the one who's thinking about that.

I looked it up for the states I could find. Indiana wasn't one of them. But it'll be similar to these. Most of them said 5 to 20 or 10 to 20, with the 5 and 10 being no-less-than minimum terms served. Many said terms can go up to 99 years, depending on the circumstances. And all of them are adjustable inside those terms depending on whether the robber is someone with a record. Whether he's on probation. Whether someone got hurt in the process. Whether that victimwas an old person or a child.

Someone would have to be pretty dumb to commit armed bank robbery, if you ask me.

well for starters robbing a bank will ensure serious jail time. as stated there are a lot of variables that will determine punishment. was the gun loaded? anyone hurt? any shots fired?

bank robberies aren't too common for simple reasons. Not realistic and obscene jail time.

but shit thats just the way i see it, hell go for it; give me something to watch on the news.

Robbing a bank puts the FBI on the case. Robbing banks is a federal crime. 90% of all bank robbers are caught and convicted. The average take on a bank robbery os less than a couple thousand dollars. When (not if) you get convected of the federal crime of bank robbery, you are required to serve at least 80% of your sentence before being eligible for parole. You serve your time in a federal prison, which means you may live in Oregon, but would serve your time in Florida, cutting you off from friends and family visiting you.

So, if you still think robbing a bank is soooooo worth the time, go for it, champ!

well my gun wont be shot off, actually it wont even be loaded it will be a throw away(unmarked) The clothing ill be wearing never has been worn and never will be again, the car i use to get there and back will be stripped and sent to the junk yard.. Bank robbers get caught because they always go to the vault but i know that the vault takes to much time so ill stick to the registers not as much money as the vault or safe but i figure ill hit up a couple.

We all have these Walter Smitty moments. Just don't act on them. Ever been to county jail? I have in two different states.

If you get busted for robbing a bank, armed or not, you are going to PRISON, which is 10 times worse than county. And county sucks.

Please don't do it. If you are considering doing it, then talk to someone who has robbed a bank before. Then you can kill 2 birds with one stone: they can tell you how to rob a bank, then they can tell you how horrible prison is.

Don't do it. Get a legitimate job if you need money.

Bank robbery is like so 20th century LOL!

And to make matters worse, banks have less cash on-hand (when adjusted for inflation) than they used to.

Even if using a "fake" / unloaded gun, one is likely still going to be charged and convicted of "armed" bank robbery ... the weapon part will likely add significant time to any sentance imposed; this is true with most crimes - branishing a weapon will add much time; result in far less sympathy from any jury / judge.

Anyways, get a job - and if your income is relatively low, you will likely qualify for all sorts of "free" government benefits; get a Mexican ID card and claim to be an illegal alien (oh right, "undocumented worker") and you'll even qualify for free healthcare ... isn't America great LOL! (sarcasm).

Robbery in Indiana is a Class C, B, or A felony depending on whether there was a deadly weapon used, or is someone was hurt badly. So, for years: 2-8 if no deadly weapon involved, 6-20 if deadly weapon is involved, 20-50 if somebody gets seriously hurt. But the avg. sentences in Indiana are a little more than half the bottom number in each category.

It didn't work out so good for Al Pacino in Dog Day Afternoon.

Yes, robbing a bank is a federal crime. If your gonna rob something, rob anything else BUT a bank. Hell, if you robbed a pizza place after a dinner rush you'd probably get more money. But think of this, it may pay off in the short run, but you will get caught. There is no doubt about it. The guy who stated that 90% of all robbers get caught is wrong. It's 99%. You will be scaring people and scared people do crazy things when in situations like that. You will be putting your life at risk. In the heat of the moment anything can happen. Someone may decide to be a hero wether or not you have a gun.
If you are that desperate for money, grow pot and sell it. It's a victimless crime. The profit margin is huge, 100% profit. Just before gold prices skyrocketed recently, weed was more per ounce then gold.

Don't do it champ.
