I set my mother plant to 12/12 light last night and when I got up this morning she was all but falling over. I'm afraid I used the water that I have for hydro which has vinegar in it to bring down the PH levels. Not much, but apparently enough to come close to killing a plant grown in dirt. I'm going to put the light back on 24/0 for now, any other suggestions? I'd really hate to lose her, she's the closest thing I have to a bud right now.

it must have been the tainted water, the light-hour change would not do that ... I have no experience with poisoning my plant, but I think I would leave it on the 12/12, the dark hours may help it snap back, since the photosynthesis would be slowed down, ... it is my non-expert hunch, the growth slowdown may also slow the vinegar's progress thru the plant until it has a chance to break down into harmless elements ... well, thats what we wish for, anyway ... :smokin:

Ok, I flushed it with about 1/2 a gallon of distilled water. I also tried to tie the top up a little bit. Should I leave the lights at 12/12 or go back to 24/0? Besides praying, is there anything else I can do? I'm almost positive it was the vinegar.
Dang, why did I do that!

You moved from hydro to dirt?
How did you prep for the Ph swing?
What is the Ph of your dirt?

No, that's the mother plant that I used to clone from for the hydro. The hydro plants are still doing fine, better then I expected for my first time at least. Thanks to you guys. What I did was make a cabinet for the long light period and had it ready yesterday. So, I thought I'd just set the mother plant to 12/12 in the closet so I would maybe have some for the 4th of July. But, I watered her yesterday with the jug that had vineger in it for the hydro. She was all nice and perky till the light came on this morning and I realized what I had done. I could still kick myself in the ass for it. I was thinking of dumping out that dirt and putting fresh in. Would you recommend that? What about the lighting? I'm not sure how to check the PH of the dirt. I do have some PH strips for a fish tank, would they work?

i am not sure the fish take strips will work never tried it.. but you can purchase soil testers for pretty cheap... there are also the ones that have the metal prongs at the end with a variety of things, PH soil, moisture, light etc. they run about $30 i think
maybe try flushing a little more thorough meaning with more water, then let dry out for like a week, i am no expert though, just something i would try if i had nothing to lose, cuz if you change the soil you still have all the soil that is tied into the roots that your not changing.

If she is going to heal, will it happen from the bottom up?
I flushed her one more time with distilled water until I seen it coming out the bottom and set the light back to 24/0. I thought maybe it would help her move the bad stuff through her system quicker. I was going to put her in new dirt but thought that might be too much stress. Not to mention messy considering all the water I put in.
I see two branches that look like they may be reviving on the bottom. The bigger leaves all over the plant are still shrivled but green, it looks like there may be some smaller leaves coming out scattered around the branches.
If nothing else, I may be able to get a couple of more clones from her. I'm going to give her some love and time first though.
Hard to believe such a small amount of vineger will take a plant from this to that!

Damn man... that sucks... :(
I think your plant has a big-ass hangover...
When you flush, don't be shy about water usage. You can try flushing under the water faucet in your home... flush till the water comes clear out the other side... unless it's already clear... ?
I mean... I think about this... never have done it... mhmm....
Good luck mate, :)

I see quite a bit of new, small growth coming out around the plant now. Should I pluck the old dried and dead leaves off of her?
I'd wait until the old leaves turn crispy before removing, the plant may spring back, but it doesn't look that way.
sorry, that's a real shame...

How long has she been in that dirt?
Could she be root bound?

dude im no expert, but i have never not harvested a plant that i was growing, anyways if that would have happend to me i would have went back to veg after flushing with a few gallons of ph adj. water fed nothing but water for a week then start back with 1/2 strength nutes for a week and then resume the normal feed schedule if it made it that far. i dont like to mark my jugs., for security reasons but i have used a peice of tape to label mixes and then remove when i disposed of the jugs i rarely keep ph adj water around since you still have to adj after adding to your resv , alltho after a while you get to know your plant and usually know exactly what to do as far as daily maint, but thats me , sorry for your troubles, funny thing is that youve probably learned something here that youll nvr forget

Oh yea, I learned something alright. NEVER give a dirt plant vineger!!! :)
I don't believe it's root bound Zandor, it's only been in that pot for about 10 days.
Many of the old larger leaves are crumbling now when I touch them so I believe I will go a head and remove those. It actually looks a bit worse today when I got home from work then it did this morning before I left.
I suppose I may as well experiment with her now, can't hardly do any more harm then I have.
On a bright note though, a couple of my seeds poped. I'll be starting a couple more in dirt this evening. But DAWGONE IT, she was the closest thing I have to being done and I know how good it was going to be.
Oh well, the journey is supposed to be half the fun.

Not much left of her but I'm going to ride it out with her to the very end.
I'm actually very curious to see just what happens now.

root bound over night? (ha) your not gona have a plant
be doing great and the next day its a crispy kritter from root bound get real
if it were hydro you may have been able to save it but in dirt (na) anyways
i had a similiar thing happend to one of my grows that was hydro actually it happend to the care taker the plants were requiring few drops of down daily to adj ph levels and then all of a sudden it took several teaspoons by the time my buddy got to the last plant the first ones he adjusted were wasted ,
he couldnt figure it out i asked him "anything diff"? told me about the amount of ph down it took being quite a bit more than usual i said you dumb ass calibrate calibrate calibrate.(turns out the electrode on the ph mtr went bad) if there is a big change like that all of a sudden
more than likely its human error! so if you ever run on to a change double check yourself ask your self whats diff?

I'm afraid she's gone. The stalk is completely white, even the small growth dried up. It just astounds me how such a small amount of deluted vineger could do that much damage so quickly. Yet, I'm still using vineger in the hydro with out any problems.
The first pic is how she was at the very end, the second is the way I choose to remeber her.
At least I have some clones, so in someway I suppose she still lives on.

Hey mate, I had the same problem with my plants along time ago.
I was growing 3 in my basement, first day of 12/12 they couldnt handle it and drooped majorily such as yours. I could not correct the error and died, but more luck to you, cheers.
