Murdoch to host fundraiser for Hillary Clinton
Caroline Daniel / FT | May 9 2006 (http://news.ft.com/cms/s/61faabde-deb8-11da-acee-0000779e2340.html)

Rupert Murdoch, the conservative media mogul whose New York Post tabloid savaged Hillary Clinton??s initial aspirations to become a US senator for New York, has agreed to host a political fundraiser for her re-election campaign.

The decision underlines an incongruous thawing of relations between Mr Murdoch and Mrs Clinton, who in 1998 coined the phrase ??vast rightwing conspiracy? to denounce critics of her husband, such as Fox News, the conservative cable channel owned by Mr Murdoch??s News Corporation.
Mr Murdoch will host the fundraiser, due to be held by July, on behalf of News Corp.

One person involved in the event said it reflected his views of her as a senator, rather than as a presidential candidate. ??They have a respectful and cordial relationship. He has respect for the work she has done on behalf of New York. I wouldn??t say it was illustrative of a close ongoing relationship. It is not like they are dining out together.?

The decision reflects an assiduous courtship by Mrs Clinton and former President Bill Clinton. Last month Mrs Clinton surprised Washington by attending the ??Fox News Sunday? 10th anniversary party, where she chatted with Mr Murdoch.

Mr Clinton has encouraged Mr Murdoch??s involvement with his Global Initiative and has invited him to speak again at the second forum in September. The former president will also address News Corp??s summer conference.

The fundraiser for Ms Clinton??s re-election is in stark contrast to the brutal coverage from the New York Post of her first Senate campaign.
The partisan tabloid ran unflattering pictures, and frontpage headlines pleading: ??DON??T RUN?. A poll from the Post??s website during the campaign identified her as the sixth ??most evil? person of the millennium, ahead of Benito Mussolini and Vlad the Impaler. Her husband ranked second.

One media lobbyist said: ??Murdoch will be for the Republicans but he is also smart enough to know that the Republicans might not win. At some level, whether nationally or in New York, Hillary is the future and what savvy businessman would not want to put a line of interest in someone who will be the future??

Mrs Clinton??s campaign office declined to comment.

I just hope it gets her off the democratic ballot... she's a douche...

we don't need another republican in the white house, even if she says she's not...she is, and if you take money from fox your might as well kick your self in the ass.. which I'm glad she is doing and just hope she doesn't waste the good canadites' money running against them for primaries...

she should have realized she wasn't good enough when Bill had to get that ugly bitch to suck him off.... get a clue hillary you suck balls, and don't even do that well...

The duopoly of the two parties sickens me!! I want real choices not some handpicked puppets. Well either way it doesn't matter with electoral college, and the no printers on the electronic voting machines.

I don't think it's the lack of paper from the voting machines... it's the fact that they are rigged...

but dualy agreed that they are needed so that we can prove it's cheating... although when you have a guy go infront of a court like the movie and nothing happens it makes you wonder just how corrupt it really is...

there really do seem to be a few non puppets out there that may have a shot, but well have to see... I just hope democrates win something in novermber so that hopfully they will pass some kind of lobby reform and campaign finance reform again... which reminds me - Fingold and McCain did good on that one... I think both of them are the least puppeted of the two parties... maybe not the least, but they actually care about something aside themselves...

When sharon wanted to start a third independent party I believe he was assassinated, just like milosovich using the heart attack medicine. The cia has that in their arsenol. I need the tinfoil hat icon!

if neo-con socialist bizarro world continues at its current pace, we'll be seeing 'conservative' hosts telling us it's liberal to be against hillary clinton, and that it's conservative to be for hillary...

this is what the establishment always does, they give us a republicrat for a president, everyone starts to hate him, then they send us running to the trojan horse demopblican candidate, things seem okay for a while, but the same things are going on...nothing changes, we're on a one track course towards an anti-US sovereignty world dictatorship.

the same systems of surveillance and control are going in worldwide.

do you think there could be enough third party canadates in november to cause a chage in anything??

what if we got ride of one of the parties... I know we can' this years, but the US hasn't always been republican and demcrat... what if we change the debate as to get both of them out, or at least the republicans... try to get it to a three party government even...

I think more people should push for different parties and express it rather than allowing them to make us chose between each...

that's a great way and the way america should be ran...
