Alrighty then.

I am taking these online high school courses at ce.byu.edu (you can't see the material if you are not taking classes). Well one of my courses is Health, and the section I am on right now is about drug abuse. Here is a little something it had to say about Long-term affects of Marijuana.

______________________________________
Long-Term Effects
Long-term use of marijuana impairs thinking and all basic learning skills: reading, mathematics, and speaking. Marijuana users may become psychologically dependent. (This is when a person thinks they need the drug to feel normal.) Other side effects for users may include the impairment of long-term memory, gum disease, bloodshot eyes, dry mouth and throat, and an increased risk of mouth cancer. Many marijuana users experience personality changes that include a loss of motivation, lack of energy, and paranoia. They lose interest in activities that used to be important to them. Users may become apathetic and withdraw from academic and social activities. This may be referred to as amotivational syndrome.

Here it says that the user may become psycholgically dependent, but earlier my teacher was claiming it was addictive even like tobacco products or alcohol. The thing that amazes me is that she claims it impairs thinking annd all basic learning skills over a period of time. Is she claiming that if you smoked 20 years this is what you would become. Or a week or so after it was in your body you would suffer from these "long-term" affects? Because either way it's bullshit and this teacher is a Mormon bitch anyways.

Has anyone hear before that Marijuana can cause gum disease? This sounds completely ridiculous.

She also says that it lowers testosterone and alters estrogen causing infertility. Hmm.. I'm sure many people have had sex while using Marijuana..

One thing I'm not sure about though is that she says it can also cause miscarriage and have mental side affects on babies?

It's all a bunch of bullshit. I've been smoking for nearly 25 years and have suffered none of the so-called "long-term effects" of marijuana use. Nobody who isn't very close to me an/or a smoker themselves would have any clue that I'm a marijuana smoker. If your teacher lived next door to me she would be more inclined to nominate me as the president of the local D.A.R.E chapter than to think I actually used the demon weed. She might, however, wonder what that funny smell is every now and then ;)

that book was prolly wrote in 1972. A bucnh of it sounds like shit. The only problem I see with it is the smoke itself. Maybe that's what she means about the baby thing. Smoke of any kind has tar with all kinds of shit in it. If you're a preggo, smoking (anything) can cause a number of problems for the baby. Don't flame me if you think I'm wrong (I also know women who have smoked and had healthy babies), but why risk it if you're having a baby. If you can't stop for 9 months then you really do have a problem.

About the infertility thing. My uncle has been smoking for around 30 years and he (accedentally) made a baby when he was 45 years old and the kids great. If he can pull that off after a lifetime of herb than the spermys must not mind too much.

Nah, sperm like to have a bit of relaxation time too.

No one ever considers the sperm, but what if its what they want?

i have smoked for over 30+ years i have plenty of energy i still do all the things i enjoy ..as far as lower testosterone im in my 40's and still have no problems getting a stiffy when needed and ocasionally when not needed..my kids moms smoked while pregnent[ not to excess but in small amounts as suggested by there midwives for morning sickness] all 3 of my young uns are very healthy well adjusted and inteligent semi well behaved children...i would believe nothing the feds or a school health book told me about drug abuse or recreational drug use..as far as dental hygene i have no idea where they came up with that one ...my teeth are a mess but i am more than sure it is from years of neglect due to using hard drugs when i was younger
