MCSHERRYSTOWN, Pa., May 8 (UPI) -- A Pennsylvania mother has been charged after admitting she rewarded her 13-year-old son for doing his homework by smoking marijuana with him.

During police questioning, Amanda Lynn Livelsberger, 30, said she had been sharing her marijuana with her son after school since he was 11, and said she had also smoked dope with two of his school friends.

The boy told police his mother told him if he smoked marijuana he would forget about his father who was in prison for selling and smoking crack. She also told him that smoking marijuana would not hurt him like cigarettes would, the York (Pa.) Daily Record reported.

Livelsberger is charged with three counts each of corruption of minors, possession of a small amount of marijuana, and one count each of endangering the welfare of children and possession with intent to distribute drug paraphernalia.

The status of her son's custody was not disclosed. Her next court hearing is scheduled for June 19.

At that age I thought I was doing pretty good when the ol' man let me take a drink off his beer. Times have changed a bit I guess.

Well, whats a healthier reward - giving your kid a can of coke or a chocolate bar after homework, or a fat spliff? I think that its a little too young to get a kid onto Herb though, 15/16 would be better, although Im gonna teach my kids about drugs as soon as they hit 13. Their first ounce will be a 16th birthday present.

reguardless of the law, i'd rather have my son smoking with me in my house after he's done with his homework, then running around the streets, ~trying~ to find some smoke.... and possibly getting into very negative activities, to get his smoke.

I read the article at another site, she also sold one of his friends heroin.

That's not a mom. That's a friend. A bad friend.

I agree. If I was to ever have any kids then I wouldn't want them going aroung on the streets looking for a smoke. If I knew they smoked then I would do my best to help them out. I have seen the relations that parents have with their kids when they smoke togethor. Those are some of the best relationships I have seen.

The kid(s) were definately too young, too young to know they'd better not brag about it, she also should have told them that if anyone found out, the LAW would BURY her (like what's happening to her now!). Stupid people, it also gives the wrong "image" for all stoners. I'm sure she meant no harm but damn, it wasn't very well thought out! The Crack and Heroin just puts it over the top- very uncool!

yea, but i also find every law against marijuana and it's by-products utterly offensive and downright wrong, i've just learned to ignore them, as my voice isn't heard either way.

hm thats kinda sad, poor lady. i do think 11 is a bit too young tho. IMO 15 or 16 is a good age to start in moderation.

I agree about the age, 15/16 is alot better start. 11 and such is jus too young and makes them more dependant IMO. If I had to I could quit weed, but no reason, obstacle, or person is making me right now :D

that's like a swift kick to the gut followed by either a jab to the testicles or another swifdt kick right between the legs.

When my son turns 17, that's when I started. I'll totally have 2 jays ready to go, 1 for him and 1 for me to smoke with. Good times.
