I always notice when people talk about pink floyd that they never mention this album. It is Roger Waters last album with the band. I can remember scoring microdots in Germany and tripping/bouncing/partying all night long and then getting back to the barracks and having such a chilled come down, smoking hash and listening to pink floyd-the final cut.
I have such great memories with this album
I think I want to make this my next CD I purchase
should bring back lots of nice flashbacks from the past

"Fuck all that we've got to get on with these
Gotta compete with the wily Japanese.
There's too many home fires burning
And not enough trees."

i LOVE Pink Floyd, I own all of their released albums and have got their "Tree full of Secrets" box set of b-sides and unreleased songs....

They are quite possibly my all time favorite band. And the final cut is an amazing album.....lol I think all their albums are amazing to be honest...

Final cut was the first Pink Floyd album I ever bought, right when it was first released back in 1980..I think. I was hooked and became an instant Floyd fan. Definitely a great album, sounds more like Water's post Floyd stuff though. A few years later I saw Roger Waters on his Pro's and Con's of Hitch Hiking Tour and he did quite a bit of stuff off of Final Cut.

Speaking of Waters' solo stuff, I'm surprised nobody ever mentions it with all the Floyd fans here. Pro's And Cons is awesome, Clapton was definitely a good choice as the guitarist for the first outing without Gilmour. Amused To Death is great too.

Thats funny. I have never even heard any of Roger Waters stuff after. I guess I need to go seek it out. I did buy Momentary Lapse of Reason right after it came out. I am thinking 87-88. It was ok. If I remember correctly I only liked the first couple of songs on the whole thing.

Its probably never really spoken off along with other Floyd albums because none of the other band members had much input from what I've heard. So its essentially a Roger Waters solo effort, and is an album which is used to vent some of his opinions surrounding his fathers death.

I find the same with Divison Bell and Momentary Lapse Of Reason aren't often mentioned with the other albums and their two of my favourites.

I think Waters definitely has a better talent for putting an "album" together than Gilmour does. His stuff just all flows together, like an opera or a symphony. The type of album you listen to from beginning to end. I liked Momentary Lapse and Division Bell but they seemed much more just a collection of unrelated songs that are trying to sound like a Floyd album.

I'd definitely recommend you check out Pro's and Con's of Hitchhiking if you like Final Cut. If you listen to the progression of Floyd's sound from Animals>The Wall> Final Cut, Pro's and Con's seems like it would logically be the next Floyd album. I heard that Waters actually wrote that album at the same time he came up with the idea for The Wall. Apparently he presented both ideas to the rest of of the band and we all know which one they picked.

Yeah, I heard the same thing. Odd though, Gilmour actually did most of the vocals on Dark Side, all except for Brain Damage and Eclipse. When I saw Waters back in 2000 he had someone else handle all of Gilmour's vocals, which meant he didn't sing for about 3/4 of Dogs. If he does the same thing this time around...well...it'll seem more like he's just the bass player for someone else's show.

When I saw Floyd back in 1994 they played Dark Side from the beginning to end. Except for Brain Damage and Eclipse that is. It was fucking awesome.

What did you pay for tickets to the Water's show? I heard they were ridiculously expensive.

Never been a huge fan of pink floyd music, but allways thought they were very clever. I have nothing but respect for them and the songs they put out.
